I am looking for all information about the Nickels Surname. My 4th greatgrandfather Berkhardt Heintz married Catharine Nickels in 1757 at St. Paul's (Blue) Church, Upper Saucon Twp., Lehigh Co., PA. Any information about any Nickel's family would be appreciated. I'm trying to eliminate some of the families and any help or information would be appreciated. Many thanks, JOHN HAINS 26 Stevens Street Bernardsville, NJ 07924-2258 (908) 766-3143 (Home)
I am looking for the parents of Susanna A. Moyer, b. 7 Sep 1836, PA, d. 6 Mar 1909, Windsor Twp., Berks Co., PA. She was the daughter of Philip Moyer and Elizabeth Held according to her death certificate. She was married to Joseph Reber. She was Joseph Reber's second wife. I have been searching for Philip Moyer now for a few years and have had no luck. The closest I've come is a 1850 Schuylkill Co., East Bruswich Twp. record. The record has the following. It was very hard to read but some of the ages could be wrong. Philip Moyer 64 m Boarding House Elizabeth 41/46 f Wife <-- Age was hard to read Susannah 16 f As you can see by this record, Susannah would have been born in 1834. My Susannah was born in 1836 but I know that census records are not always reliable. Also note that Philip Moyer is quite older than Elizabeth so this could be his second marriage. I also know that Susannah's husband was a railroad bridge foreman. He died in Wayne Junction, PA which is considerable distance from Berks Co., PA. So it is quite possible that Susannah was not born in the Berks Co., PA area and that he met her on his travels after his second wife died. This is only a working theory. So I'm looking for anybody who might be able to help me regarding Philip Moyer or Elizabeth Held. I'll take any help on either name. Also remember that Moyer could be Mayer or Meyer or some other variant. This could be almost as bad as looking for the Smith name. But lets hope it is not. Any mention of a Philip Moyer in any documents or records that people have would be appreciated. It just might open up the mystery. I thank you in advance for any help you can give me. I am looking for any information of a Burkhardt Heintz. His name could also be Haines, Henns, Heinz, Haines, etc. There are many variants of this surname. Burkhardt Heintz came to the New World in 1754. Within a year or so he found his way to Lehigh Co., PA where he married Catharine Nickels in 1757. After staying a few years he moved to Richmond Twp., Berks Co., PA where he stayed until 1789. At this point I have lost him. All of his children also have disappeared except for one. It is quite probable that he died around this time and his wife remarried or moved on to a different area. He also did not own land. My belief is that he worked the land for money and lived wherever he could. In 1789 he might have just decided to find greener pastures and travelled to other counties or he died and is buried in a field without any markers. If anybody is related to this person I would like to hear from you. If you have come across his name in any cemetery, church or minister's records I would like to hear from you. Hopefully somebody out there might be able to help me locate Burkhardt Heintz. Thank you. John Hains 26 Stevens Street Bernardsville, NJ 07924-2258 (908) 766-3143 (Home)

Has anyone ever heard of or know where Carbon, Lehigh Co is? I have a good atlas, but it doesn't seam to be on it and one of my ancesters was born there in 1868 per his own information, but his death certificate says that he was born in Allentown. So I am assuming that Carbon is near Allentown. This ancestors was Isaac James Sheneberger and had a twin, James Daniel. His parents were Levi & Catherine Segner m. abt 1863, but I don't know when they moved to Leigh Co., it appears that by 1872 they were in Northampton Co. Any information would be greatly appreciated, Anita
Hi All Thanks to everyone that replyed to my question dealing with archiving the mail list. The majority of those that response wanted the lists to be archived which I will do. There was mention by one or two of the concern of people being spam. And I can understand the concern. Below is a little bit of the information that Karen Isaacson of Rootsweb wrote to the listowners concerning this problem and what they were going to do. "So, what do we intend so that the web-crawlers don't scoop up all your addresses? A front door, of sorts. Anyone accessing the archives, either the threaded ones or the search engine or, ultimately, the search engine to the threaded messages, will have to come in via a particular page. The page will have a box in it. In the box, you'll type the name of the mailing list. Then you click on"submit" and are deposited on a page (build on the fly by a cgi-bin script) that lets you search the archives, or follow a link to the threaded messages. Brian says he can set this up so that, once you're in the "archive area", you can easily go from page to page, but that if you try to jump into the middle, you'll instead be diverted to the front door where you have to type a list name. So no robo-crawler will be able to wander through our message bases collecting addresses, but your listmembers won't have to remember a "password." I myself have found that its hard to get your email address private on the internet. Have went to several places where you can search for e-mail addresses and have found mine posted. Even though I'd didn't list it. Hope no one will leave the list (have close to 100 on one list and little over 100 subscriber on the other list) because of this. But decided to go with what the majority wanted. If anyone has any questions please contact me at judjack@rocketmail.com or judjack@hotmail.com Again thanks for listening and responsing. Pardon the spelling my fingers seem to be working faster than my brain this morning. Everyone have a great Thanksgiving Holiday Judy Jackson Listowner/manager PALEHIGH,PASCHUYL,PABUCKS,IABREMER,IABUTLER,NYONEIDA PS This isn't quite a genealogy question (will it could be in a way) Does anyone have a good Pennsylvania Dutch recipe for stuffed dumpling. My Grandmother was Pennsylvania Dutch and made dumpling stuffed with some type of sausage or meat and cooked in a broth. Melt in your mouth remember it from when I was a kid and when we would go visit she'd always make it. But never came across a recipe that was just right. And she was one that never went by a recipe. Hi As many of you know Rootsweb is in the process of archiving the mailing lists on line. I have a choose until December 1 to include the PALEHIGH and PASCHUYL mailing list. Then it will automaticlly included. What I'm asking is those on the above to list their opinion as to if these two lists should be included. Rootsweb is going to set up a system where places like web-crawlers and such (as Karen Issacson put it no roto-crawler) will be able to wander through the message bases collecting addresses. PLEASE RESPOND TO ME and not the list. Addresses you can get me at are judjack@rocketmail.com or judjack@hotmail.com Thank You Judy Jackson List Owner/Manager __________________________________________________________________ Sent by Yahoo! I am looking for the parents of PELEG M. RUMFIELD who was born March 25, 1818 in Pennsylvania. I do not know which county he was born in but he was called the "Pennsylvania Dutchman" when he later went to Ohio. An article written about Peleg, many years after his death, in a Southern Ohio newspaper, indicated that both he and his wife RACHEL PETIT were "Pennsylvania Dutch". There were Rumfields in Lehigh and Northampton counties, but I have not been able to connect Peleg to any of them. Rachel Petit was born October 17, 1819. I have very little information on her family and would like to find out who her parents are and where they were from. I would appreciate any help I could get on these folks. Thanks, Dick Sommer <rosommer@primenet.com> Stillwater, MN
