Looking for births, deaths, baptisms, marriages, etc. of the RUMFELD/RUMFIELD/RUMFELT/RUMPFELD name. I have the information from New Hanover Lutheran in Montgomery Co., but was advised that Faulckner Swamp records could hold additional information. I am looking for the parents of my gggrandfather Peleg M. Rumfield. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Peleg was born in March of 1818, somewhere in PA. Thanks, Dick Sommer Stillwater, MN rosommer@primenet.com
Rosina Rumfeld (Minner) died in Montgomery Co. (Middletown) in January of 1819. The death was reported in the UNABHAENGIGER REPUBLIKANER on January 23, 1819. I would be very interested in knowing the contents of this notice. I don't know if it is in the form of an obituary, or simply a death notice. This woman and her husband Philip RUMFELD, may be my ggggrandparents. Their Marriage is recorded at the New Hanover Lutheran Church (Falckner Swamp) in Montgomery Co. as 11/23/1806. My gggrandfather Peleg M. RUMFIELD was born in PA in March of 1818. I have been unable to connect him with his parents. Any help would be appreciated. Dick Sommer Stillwater, MN rosommer@primenet.com

Date: Monday, December 29, 1997 8:24 AM Subject: RUMFIELD/RUMFELD/PETTIT I am looking for the parents of PELEG M. RUMFIELD who was born March 25, 1818 in Pennsylvania. I do not know which county he was born in but he was called the "Pennsylvania Dutchman" when he later went to Ohio. An article written about Peleg, many years after his death, in a Southern Ohio newspaper, indicated that both he and his wife RACHEL PETTIT were "Pennsylvania Dutch". There were Rumfields in Lehigh and Northampton counties, but I have not been able to connect Peleg to any of them. Rachel Petit was born October 17, 1819. I have very little information on her family and would like to find out who her parents are and where they were from. I am reposting this because I have subscribed to several new lists. I would appreciate any help I could get on these folks. Thanks, Dick Sommer <rosommer@primenet.com> Stillwater, MN
Seeking information and links to the family of Hugh SWEENEY and Ellen GORMLEY, both born in Ireland, who married and settled in Allentown, PA in the mid to late 1800's. Hugh SWEENEY was a concessionaire at 5th and Hamilton Streets in downtown Allentown and sold items such as peanuts, cigars, pretzels, etc. He was quite successful and had homes built on Turner Street and Law Street in Allentown. Hugh SWEENEY had relatives named KEHOE who lived in Norristown, PA. He had a brother who operated a department store in Buffalo, NY. Another brother was a Carmelite priest in a southern state. He also had a sister, but nothing is known about her. Ellen GORMLEY had four sisters named Sarah, Cora, Mary and one name unknown. Hugh SWEENEY and Ellen GORMLEY had six children, as follows: 1. John SWEENEY, a wood carver and cabinet maker. He never married and is buried in Rochester, NY. 2. Hugh SWEENEY, a barber in Philadelphia. He married Mabel MAHONEY; they had no children. 3. Frank SWEENEY, occupation unknown. He and his wife Bertha lived in Allentown and had three sons, Francis, Hugh and William. 4. Sarah "Sally" SWEENEY, married Harry FISHER (my great-grandparents) and lived in Allentown. They had eleven children. 5. William SWEENEY, a stage actor in New York City. He never married and is buried in New York City. 6. Agnes SWEENEY, married James O'DONNELL and lived in Bethlehem. They had no children, as she died of pneumonia one year after they married. If any of this connects with anyone, please contact me. Thank you and happy holidays. Bill Elwood Richmond, VA
I am activley seeking all SOLT families. The earliest ancestors came from Germany and settled into Northampton County, which broke into Carbon and Lehigh. I have lots of information to share. If any of you have SOLT members in your information, I'd love to hear. I'm trying to link all current SOLT families into a database. From my research, it appears they are all related thru three brothers who came over in the mid 1700's. I'd appreciate any contacts. One of the reasons I put the index in the email is the common misspelling of surnames. When searching for names, it is much easier to scroll down a page and see if anything is close to the pronunciation of the surname. Soundex gives so many variations, based on how many syllables a name has as well as sound. That makes it a bit harder to scroll through a soundex-based index. I like the ability to scroll down the neighborhoods of a township. Toni and Mike peace and love http://members.tripod.com/~tonirossi/index.html
