Hi All, I just spent a really fun week matching up records from Lehigh & Northampton Co., trying to place baptism, death and marriage records with the correct people in my family. As a result I have had great success with my own line, but now I have tons of misc. information. I would really like to verify that I have the right children with the right parents, and spouses that belong together etc. I still have some misc people that I can't place correctly, so I am hoping that some of you may have some information that will help or perhaps I have some information that will help you. My research line is Sheneberger, but there are many, many spellings. All of them are spelled consistantly in this file, but the records have them as SCHOENEBERGER, SCHOENENBERGER, SCHONEBERGER, and others, so don't let my spelling deter you. There are many, many additional surnames in the following lists: BENDER, GROSS, LAUB, SEGFRIED(SIEGFRIED), SCLEGEL, DALP, GRUPE, STILES, MCKENEY SAWYER, SEAGNER, SEEM, SCHMIDT. If any of you find a match in the following information please contact me. I am looking for a Jacob Swenk that was born in approximately 1860. This is my wife's great grandfather. He died in Grants Pass, Oregon on Sept. 20, 1899. In between he lived in Colorado, and Butte City Montana and was a mining engineer (superintendant). He has stated in the 1880 Census in Colorado, and in the 1885 Census in Colorado that he was born in Pennsylvania. I would appreciate any info that is available on the Swenk, Schwenk, Schwenck lines in Schuylkill county. I have approximately 500 different Swenk, Schwenks that I have located, but still do not no which is the right line. Thanks for any help Jim Lindell (married to Shauna Swenk0
Hi everyone - I posted a similar message a few months ago, but thought I would post again since new people join everyday. I am looking for info on SIMON KREMER (KREAMER), born in the early 1780s in PA (Berks?), died before 1858 (and after 1845). He married Anna Margaretha KRAMMES (GRAMMES), spent most of his adult life in Wayne Twp (Schuylkill Co), and attended St. Paul's (Summer Hill) Church in South Manheim Twp. I am very stuck! Can't find his baptism record, his death place, or the husband's names for his daughters Salome, Rebecca, and Catharina (he and his wife may have moved to be with a daughter later in life). Does anyone have any info on the above? Or does anyone have ANY Simon Kremer/Kramer in their family tree (given the PA German tendency to name kids after relatives, this might be helpful) His children were: 1. Salome (Sarah) KREMER, born June 28, 1805 (sponsors Jakob REBER and Salome GRAMMES) - possibly married a Hilbert? 2. Simon KREMER, born Dec 20, 1806 (sponsors Abraham and wife Eva LUCKENBILL), never married, died Dec 15, 1858 3. Daniel KREMER, born March 2, 1809 (sponsors - parents), married Annetta MACHMER, died Feb 25, 1872 4. Elizabeth KREMER, born Dec 19, 1811 (sponsor Susanna KRAMMES); married Philip BERGER, died Sept 3, 1856 5. Rebecca KREMER, born June 24, 1814 (sponsor Rebecca BERKHEISER) 6. Esther KREMER, born July 9, 1816 (sponsor Margaretha KRAMMES), married Andreas REBER, died Jan 11, 1858 7. David KREMER, born April 20, 1818 (sponsors Daniel KRAMMES and wife Maria), married Catharine BRESSLER, died Aug 17, 1888 8. Catharina KREMER, born June 28, 1822 (sponsors Adam KRAMMES and wife Elizabeth) Some other names that appear on deeds for Simon Kremer that I don't recognize (for instance, as witnesses): John L. HILBERT and wife Sara (1840s) John KANFER (1819) Peter and John KUTZ (1842) Isaac MANN (1840) Jacob MARSHALL and wife Margaretha (1811) Jacob MENNIG (1845) Gabriel MILLER (1845) William WOLFF (1840)

I am looking for information on the Subject family in Montgomery and area counties. The New Hanover Lutheran Church records show the marriage of Henry Rumfield to Christina Bartman in 1807, and the marriage of Philip Rumfield to Rosina Minner in 1806. Maria Rumfield was born to Henry and Christina in 1809. Does anyone have any additional information on these families? Specifically I am looking for the birth of my gg-grandfather Peleg Rumfield. He was born in PA in 1818 (March 25). I have not been able to establish who his parents are. I am also looking for a Petit family. Rachel Petit was born in 1819 and married Peleg Rumfield. They later went to Ohio. I would appreciate any information. Dick Sommer <rosommer@primenet.com> Stillwater, MN

Peter's first child, Elizabeth, was born in 1800 and he purchased 69 acres on Lyle's Creek in 1801 where he built a home that is still standing today. Hello all! Here is an artical that I wrote that may be of interest to most of you! Let me know if there are any omisions or errors. Are your relatives listed? Steve THE EMIGRATION FROM LEHIGH CO. PA TO SENECA CO. OHIO By Stephen J. Hartzell The following story appeared in the Allentown, Pennsylvania, Free Press on September 3, 1879, and was reprinted in the Tiffin, Ohio, Evening Herald on September 6, 1879. It was written at a time when about 700 people came from Allentown to Tiffin with the Liberty Fire Company. The week was filled with tournaments, contests, parties, and all other things that would go along with a fireman's convention. Although the city of Tiffin was expecting only about 254 people, they somehow made accommodations for 700. The result was an event which proved to be a raving success. For our purposes, the most important thing about this article is that it deals specifically with the ongoing emigration from Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, to Seneca County, Ohio. Of these emigrants, some eventually continued west while many remained in the young Ohio county. Still others went west only to return to Seneca County in future years, as was the case with our Hartzell ancestors. They went west in 1868 only to return in 1875 and live out the remainder of their years in Seneca County, Ohio, the place they had truly come to call home. THE GERMAN PEOPLE Of the nearly 700 People who left Allentown on Sunday night with the Liberty fire company's excursion to Tiffin, Ohio, there were few who did not have some relative or acquaintance in the Ohio town which with its vicinity was long the destination of all Lehigh County people who went west. Tiffin is a prosperous and growing town in a progressive farming district, where agriculture is carried on with all the improved facilities for money making; the farmers are rich, and, we must admit it, there are some particulars in which they, as Pennsylvania Germans have advanced far ahead of those left behind them when they bid adieu to the Delaware, the Lehigh and the Schuylkill. It has frequently been remarked with truth that nothing can excel the value of the Pennsylvania German to the country to which he emigrates. Retaining all the inherited industry of his ancestors in a new country, he affords a rare combination of careful thrift regulating a liberal enterprise. He seems to have broken through the conservative hands that restrain him, and to have taken a spirit of progressiveness which send him easily to the front. He builds the schoolhouse, is forward in improvements of all kinds, and while spending money freely for public and private benefits, he pays as he goes in both a public and private capacity. It is as though a solid, long unused, but accumulating increasing fertility and richness through the passing years had felt the first tickle of tile hoe and had pushed into blossom a variety of energies which it is not supposed to possess. and this figure leads to an explanation of why the same men do not do at home what they accomplish with such signal ability and power in other localities. They are the same heads and hearts and hands, in one place as another. But in the past it has been true that all the splendid natural faculties of the Pennsylvania German at home have been held in obevance by the fact that he spoke a language without grammar or literature of any kind, which concealed from him the channels in which he might compete for the lead among men; and which did not inform him of the methods by which men achieve distinction and power and build up the highest material prosperity. Allentown Free Press September 5, 1879 THE EMIGRANTS The following is a listing of the families that are known to have settled in Seneca County, Ohio, once residents of Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, with the approximate year of emigration if known. Were these people foreign born?? My guess " Birth Was Foreign" - implying that no naturalization had *yet* been taken place??? If there had been a naturalization then there would be a date. I am surching for the maiden name of Barbara ? (ca 1725-1795), the wife of Jacob HUBLER (1710-1789), who lived in Plainfield Twp., Northampton Co.. There is only one church document that I have found. On Aug. 30, 1759, Barbara ?? (ca 1725-1795) (the wife of Jacob HUBLER) was a sponsor for the baptismal of Johann Andres Schwartz (the son of Adam and Sarah Schwartz) at the Blue Church in Upper Saucon Twp., Lehigh Co. (then Northampton Co.). The other sponsors were John Andrew Bachman and Christian Schwartz. Blue Church was 25 miles from Jacobsburg, so Barbara ?? (ca 1725-1795) probably made the trip with another sponsor; I bet she was a Schwartz. A George Schwartz was a witness for Jacob HUBLER's will in 1789 and purchased 14 acres from the executors of the estate of Jacob HUBLER in 1791. Is this your SCHWART family? I have found these initals BWF in the naturlization column while doing census research. Can anyone tell me what they stand for? Even though both records that I found the initals used on were taken in Schuylkill county, they were from different boros. One was from the 1920 Tamaqua census and the other from the 1920 Girardville census. The only difference is the Tamaqua census had BWF citizen listed not just BWF. It apparently was a standard for something since it was from two different areas or do you think the census was taken by the same person and that is why the same intials were used in both boros. Thanks in advance for the help. Paula Ray's Yankee! Shake any family tree and a few nuts will fall.
