Hi Jane: The great web site is <usgenweb.net>. You click on state links list and from there it comes up with the states in table version and you just click on whatever state you like. To get to Lehigh Valley Historical Society you click on Pennsylvania and when the table of counties comes up click on Lehigh County. On that page are tons of great options to research in Lehigh County. Also down a little ways you can select the Historical Society and find even more. Greetings: Looking for information pertaining to Rev. Daniel George SCHAEFFER. Rev. SCHAEFFER was licensed by the Lutheran Ministerium of Pennsylvania in 1801 and was asked to preach at the "Blauberger" Church (Zion Red Church) in Brunswick Twp. now Schuylkill Co. Around 1807 Rev. SCHAEFFER began serving the Zion's Stone Church and by 1811 was serving three congregations in the Penn Township area (primarily current day East Penn, Carbon & West Penn, Schulykill). Several SCHAEFFERs show in the West Penn area just prior to his arrival and he then appears on the West Penn census for 1810,1820, & 1830. He is to have died in 1835. Of primary interest besided connecting to my line is to find what, if any, other places he may have preached prior to coming to 1801 or what other occupations he may have had. He appears from census data to have been born circa 1755 and definitely by 1760 as he appears in the 70-80 male column for the 1830 census. The Zion's Stone Church 2ooth. anniversary history, the source for most of this information, states that when inteviewed by the Ministerium as per his application for license he stated that "he was not educated in the classics, but that he could speak in Spanish, Portuguese, etc. with thhe inhabitants of the harbors that he visited in his travels." Hi Folks, I've trying to sort out my SHAFER (most likely SCHAEFFERs) from the West Penn area, Schuylkill Co. for period of circa 1790-1830. Some of the families in the area that were either close friends or connected via ties of marriage where: OHL, BALLIOT, STRAUSS, HOPPS (HABBES, HAPPES) The area was at that time Penn Twp., Northampton Co. I've a particular interest in anything connected to the Zion's Stone Church. I've already visited there and the records prior to around 1850 are not to be had. I'm also aware that Hollenbach did transcriptions for the graveyard at Zion's Stone. Lot's of evidence points towards Heidleberg and Whitehall Townships, now Lehigh Co. in relation to the Heidleberg and Eqypt churches. Would like to compare notes and exchange information with anyone researching the general area along that portion of the Blue Mountain. This would include approximately the *current* areas of: Lehigh: Heidleberg, Washington, Lynn, Whitehall(s), Weisenberg Tsp. Jacob DORRENBERGER married Anna Margaretha BASTAIN in Lehigh Valley, PA 28 Sep 1742. Anyone else researching either of these families? Was Anna a child of Andrew, who arrived in Philadelphia, PA in 1729? Is this the same group of Bastian/Bastain/Bostians who later went into Rowan Co., NC? Or was this Anna the woman who came to Philadelphia, PA in 1732 with Maria, Matelina and Herman Bastain/Bastian? I need to verify facts for a paper I'm working on. Looking for good source material. I am looking for the parents and siblings of Rachel Bachman. According to the records of the first Reformed Church of Easton, PA she married John Miller on Dec. 25, 1806. John and Rachel had seven children Michael 1807 Abraham 1808 Catherine 1812 John 1814 George 1816 Samuel 1819 Maria Ann 1821 John and Rachel have been associated with the Hemp or Hempt family. Having difficulty finding any sibling or parents for Henry WOLFE. He was born 3/8/1825 in Williamsport, Lycoming County, PA. He was married to Anna Mary CAMERON, daughter of Samuel CAMERON (previously KEMMERER) & Amelia WEBNER of Dauphin County, PA. I'm beginning to think that maybe his name was actually William Henry or vice-versa since that name is very common in other lines of my family. Either that, or maybe Henry was the immigrant. Henry & Anna Mary WOLFE moved to Freeport, Stephenson County, Illinois in 1869 then on to Jewell County, Kansas in 1870. My husband Chris asked me to undertake his family search though I could use all the help I can get. I am seeking any information on Leon Ritter, born in Allentown, Pa October 21,1894, married in (month?)1913, died November (day?) 1982. We have no record of his wife Margaret Edna Schmoyer. They had 11 children one of them being Robert James Ritter, born May 22, 1934, married August 23,1958 St Johns Lutheran Church, and died January 28,1990 in Sacred Heart, in Allentown, Pa. His wife's name was Marilyn Mae Swoyer. All my husband remembers of his Great Grandmother was her name Gladys Dorothy Swoyer.
