My Revolutionary War Grandparental Ancestor, Adam Schauer (aka, Scheuer; aka, Scheurer; later descendants Shower & Showers) is documentated by the DAR as having died 10 April 1805 in Whitehall Township/Northampton CO/PA. He was also enumerated as living there in the 1800 Census. Since Lehigh was formed in 1812 from part of Northampton, Whitehall Township has from that point forward been located in Lehigh. I am extremely interested in learning if there is a listing of cemeteries available for Whitehall Township, and/or, cemetery books that record the burials. And, of course, if anyone is also reseaching the Schauer lines, I would be anxious to exchange information. TVMIA, Jim Cleveland Heights/OH

The BENDER surname is from the Tulpehocken area of Berks Co. The CHRISTMAN surname appears in records of Dunkle's Church, Longswamp Twp., Berks. It's also a Chester County, PA name. Their story is a little convoluted, his wives being sisters. This is the best I can piece it together: Susanna Vogeli was born 5 aug 1784 probably Lehigh Co, PA, and died 29 mar 1847, in Mercer Co, PA. Sarah Vogeli was born 29 may 1792 in Macungie, Lehigh Co, PA, died 9 apr 1862, Mercer Co, PA. Susanna married Johann Jacob Christman on 14 Oct 1803 in Longswamp Church, Weissenberg Twp, Lehigh Co, PA. Sarah married Johann Jacob's brother Johann George Christman, probably around 1810. Jacob and Susanna subsequently moved to West Salem Twp, Mercer Co, PA along with several other families from that area of Lehigh Co. George died 12 dec 1840 in Lower Macungie Twp, Lehigh Co, PA. Susanna died 29 Mar 1847 in Mercer Co. Sarah (George's widow) married Jacob (Susanna's widower). Sarah died 9 apr 1862 in Mercer Co, and Jacob died the next month, 22 May 1862. All three are interred in Good Hope Cemetery, West Salem Twp, Mercer Co, PA, Jacob between Sarah and Susanna. The headstones are in German script. Would appreciate hearing from anyone with information on these folks, or ANY CHRISTMAN information. Doug Hill ccapdh@worldnet.att.net

Hello, all! Does anyone have easy access to the 1850 or 1860 census index for Lehigh County? If so, I'm interested in finding out whether a Cornelius DEVER is listed, and if so, what page of the census he can be found on. Thank you for any help you can provide. Nancy Dow Austin, TX
Just a note to tell you that your website has already "netted" me results. A scant week or so I posted a query to the board about an Adam PETERS - was trying to find his ancestors. Had an answer the very next day from one of your readers, a "tentative" match by the following day and a "positive" match by the next one! Thanks! PATROBERTS@prodigy.net

Hello, all! I am researching a DEVER family that lived in Allentown c. 1850-1860. My husband's g-grandfather, James Dever, was born in Allentown in 1855-56. His parents were Cornelius Dever and Bridget DUNBOG, both of Ireland (possibly County Armaugh). Since the Lehigh County courthouse does not have birth certificates that far back, I thought I might try baptism certificates. Does anyone know what church Irish Catholics would have attended during the 1850s and 1860s in Allentown? Is that church still in existance? If so, do you have an address and phone number? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you for your time! Nancy Dow Austin, TX

Regarding the Peter(s) family in Heidelberg Township, Lehigh County... This is my family. I have a book on the Heidelberg Church which contains many members of the family. I looked in my data base for Adam Peters but I did not find one. Do you have other information/names? Sheri
I'm new to this list, but my research on the PETER(S) family in Crawford and Venango Cos., PA just came to a screeching halt! I'm descended from Adam PETERS (1788-1861). I have records of his being in Crawford/Venango Cos. from about 1825 until his death in 1861. He's buried in the Peters Cemetery, Canal Twp., Venango Co., PA. He appears on the 1830 census in Crawford Co., (Mead Twp), PA: in 1840, 1850 and 1860 he's found in Canal Twp., Venango Co. But where did he move from? A study of the 1820 PA census index indicates that many PETERS (and PETER) were living in Heidelberg Twp., Lehigh Co. Does anyone have any information on this family ? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, PATROBERTS@prodigy.net
