Caspar Stoever Matter,Jacob, 1722-May 20,1790 Matter, Anna (wife of J.M.) died Aug 31 1809 aged 83 Rank Family I. Progenitor of the family was John Philip Rank, a native of the Palatinate, emigrated to America, landing in Phila., 19 Aug 1729. He settled in the northern part of Lancaster county, now known as Bethel township, Lebanon county. He died prior to the Rev., leaving a widow, Mary and children. 2. i.Philip of Earl township ii. Ludwig Zehring, 1st emigrant, native of Baden, came to America about 1725, and shortly after his arrival located on a tract of land two miles east of Jonestown, now Lebanon county. About the year 1773 accompained by his son Matthias, he made a voyage to Europe, but taking ill, died at sea and there buried. He was married 3 time. 2.. i. Henry, born April 5, 1737 ii. Ludwig, Dec 1738, served in the Rev. Nothing further is known of him. iii Matthias, 1741-5/13/1817, near Woodstock, Shenandoah County, VA., married Rebecaa Yeager 3. iv Christian 10/5/1755, married 1st to ___ Umberger, 2nd to Anna Rauch II Henry Zehring (Ludwig1) born April 5, 1737 in Bethel township, Lancaster County, died April 19, 1819 at Jonestown. 4. i. Henry, born March 20, 1760, married Elizabeth Rupp ii. Ludwig married ___ Boeshore, and had 6 sons, Ludwig, John Peter, George,Adam and Christian iii. John Jacob iv John v Barbara who married Jacob Decker, after the death of her sister Catharine. vi. Catharine, married Jacob Decker vii Margaretta, married Jacob Rauch, they lived in Hanover township, Dauphin County Rank, William (Hon.) , so John Peter Rank and his wife Eva Christina Mosher, was born Oct 19, 1795 in Jonestown. On Dec 26, 1819, William Rank married Eva K., d/o Henry and Barbara (Kern) Brunner, Children; Wilhelmina, Pamelia, Angelina M., Margaret, Cyrus P., William H., Erastus P., Titus H., and 2 that died in infancy. Mr. and Mrs. Rank celebrated their golden wedding in 1869, present, 62 children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren/ Mrs. Rank died June 24, 1877 in her 78th year, Judge Rank, July 7, 1881, in his 86th year. Guilford, William, MD, s/o Simeon Guilford and his wife Catharine E. Doll, was born Nov. 26, 1832 at Lebanon, PA. He married Nov 12, 1856 to Mary Ritchie, d/o John Elder Ritchie and his wife Jane Henderson, of Dauphin County. Children, Jennie R., William M., Paul, Adeline E., and Arthur B. Best Wishes, Geri
