I have very recently received a 1915 newspaper from my Aunt. The newspaper was kept because of a article that appeared in it about our family reunion of 1915 in Hershey. The newspaper is wrapped around a cardboard tube that is 1- 1 1/2" in diameter. The paper seems to be brittle & fragile. I t is kept in place on the cardboard tube by a few strings. I would like very much to get this newspaper opened without damaging it. I had thought that if I were to cut the string & let it unravel off the roll by itself that this would be a first step. But if I do this, once it is off the roll, what do I do? Is there anyone that has suggestions?
