Frederick Gerhardt was born in the Wetterau in County Ysenberg, in Langen-Selbold, March 26, 1715. He married 1st on Jan 28, 1737, Anna Elisabeth Fischer, d/o Jost Henrich Fischer. They had a son Peter. He married 2nd Barbara Rieger on Feb. 14, 1740. It has long been thought that he was a descendant of Paul Gerhardt the hymn writer, however there is now proof that this is not true. Frederick Gerhardt is the son of Wilhelm Gerhard master cartwright from Nieder Mittlau, who was the son of Jõrg Gerhard. Wilhelm married Anna Elisabeth widow of Johann Faust in Langenselbold on Nov. 17, 1707. Her first marriage, recorded June 23, 1701, reveals that she was the d/o Johannes Keÿser, master cartwright and inhabitant at Langenselbold. Jõrg Gerhardt was married twice his 2nd wife Anna d/o Thomas ?Lufft was the mother of Wilhelm, who was born Feb. 24, 1683. The father of Jõrg Gerhardt was Georg Gerhard deceased at his first marriage on Feb. 26, 1673 to Anna Ruppert. What is listed in the History of Berks Co., is incorrect information......Sandy
