    3. Early settlers-Upper and Lower Milford. After 1733 there was an increased immigration to the lower part of the present Lehigh Co. During the years immediately following, the Schwenkfelders, the Mennonites, the Lutherans and the Reformed people. Lutherans, Gabriel Kohler (Cayler) German Reformed Peter Schlosser The organization of Upper Milford (now the Upper and Lower Milford of Lehigh Co.) We find that on June 30, 1737 a petition signed by Peter Walber, Ulrich Rieszer, Mathias Ochs (Ox) Johannes Meyer, Josehp Henckel, Daniel Rausch, Heinrich Wilhelm Dillinger, Heinrich Riesz, Christian Biegel, William Bitz, Jacob Wetzel, Johannes Beltzart, Theobald Mechlin, Johannes Post, Melchior Stecher, Michael Kohler, Felix Brunner, Jacob Derry, Michael Zimmerman, William Langhorts, Martin Weitknetcht, Johannes Baumgartner, Han Ord. Simon Schneiter (or Snyder) ancestor of the Schneiters ( or Snyders) in Upper Milford, purchased, June 8, 1762, from Adam Krammes. Jacob Schneiter, a grandson of Simon Schneiter, is still living (1884). Other descendants are still living (1884) in Upper Milford, among them, David Schneiter, John Schneiter, Charles Schneiter, Nathan Schneiter, Aaron Schneiter and Leon L. Snyder, Esq. Residents in 1781 Michael Flores, Jacob Kohler, Conrad Wetzel, John Wetzel, Conrad Witmeyer, Christian Young, Conrad Zeller, John Zeller 1812 Jacob Kehler, Peter Kehler, Adam Schneider, Jacob Schneider, Samuel Schneider, Simon Schneider, Daniel Wetzel, Jacob Wetzel, Jacob Wetzel, Jr., John Wetzel, Christian Zeller, John Zeller Single Freeman, George Flores, Henry Flores The orginal Upper Milford Lutheran Congregation, the orgin of the congregation occured near the present village of Dillingersville in the present township of Lower Milford, in about the year 1734 or 35. The record was opened in the year 1749 by paster, Rev. Ludolph Heinrich Schrencke. Among the names we find, John Peter Kohler, Gabriel Kohler, Peter Lang, Conrad Zeller The assessment roll of 1781 contains the name of Lawrence Klein. This was doubtless a father or brother of Christoper Klein, who settled there about that time. Christoper left 2 sons, Lawrence born 1795 and died 1882, leaving three sons and 3 daughters, and Reuben Whitehall township-1781, Jacob Kohler, Peter Kohler, Edman Doll, Jacob Flickinger, George Flickinger, Philip Knappenberger Jacob Kohler (Coler) emigrated from Mill Hausen, Switzerland, and settled in Egypt, between the year 1720 and 1730, with his family of 9 children, two sons, Peter and Jaco and seven daughters. Ulrich Burkhalter, the ancestor of the family in the township, immigrated to this country in the ship "Samuel" of Sweden, Aug 11,1732. He had one son, Peter, and one daughter Elizabeth Barbara, who marred Jacob Mickley. Peter Burkhalter had one son John Peter and two daughters, Maria Barbara who married ___Abel from Phila., and the other married Stephen Balliet John Peter had 9 children; Henry, Peter,moved Indiana., Joseph,moved to Ohio Charles,moved to Lower Milford, Daniel,moved to Indiana Polly the wife of Henry Mickley, Elizabeth, wife of Benjamin Boggs,moved to Crawford Co, Catharine the wife of Benjamin Kohler who moved to Carbon County, Salome who married Abraham Biery Best Wishes, Geri
