This campground could be Mt. Gretna. I don't know if it still exists but I went the as a child. It was church related but I think there was a "camp meeting" area and a public area. They were cottages, built pretty close together - but by cottage I mean they were full summer homes I believe there is a Mt. Gretna town and my father used to that area to a governor's troop (mounted) camp. No, the campground to which I referred is actually a camground; trailers and motorhomes, most of them paying an annual fee. I am talking about the Cocalico Creek Campground situated just off PA Rte 897 between Kleinfeltersville and Blainsport. Mt. Gretna is another matter, entirely. They are indeed summer houses; some of them are quite substantial. There is a nice restaurant, the Hideaway, and an ice cream place called the Jigger shop. The PA National Guard used to hold a summer encampment there for two weeks, I believe, every summer. Their drills used to attract quite a few spectators, as I remember. That was a long time ago. I grew up in Newmanstown; but I have lived in Florida for the past 33 years. I spent my summers in Pennsylvania to visit my relatives and to do genealogy in the various facilities in the area. Now I am on the verge of becoming a nonagenarian and find it necessary to curtail my activities. So I hope you will indulge me if and when I ask you, from time to time, to be my eyes and legs.
