1917-1918 flu epidemic is well documented. My parents spoke of living opposite a Jewish cemetery and the coffins were piled outside the gate because the grave diggers were too sick to dig! Everyone in their family was down with the flu except my Dad. Fortunately none died, though many thousands did throughout the country.
