    1. CW--11th Reg., P.V.

    3. Jeff Staines and Leroy Miller-------I asked showed the question about the strange enlistment period of the 11th Reg. P.V. to my husband. (He teached college courses in Civil war history ) and this is what he suggested. "Thanks to Dyer, <can get the full citation if you want.> I have an easy answer. This is the 11th Regiment Militia Infantry "Called September 4, 1862, to repel Lee's invasion of maryland. Disbanded September 24, 1862. In other words - this is not the 11th Penn Vol which was a 3 year unit, but just a state militia temporarily called into service. Hope this helps. Cathy Weigley caw756@nwu.edu * * * * * -- Also, on p. 647: "In the 11th Regt., P.V., organized Sep. 12, 1862, discharged Sep. 24, 1862, were: Co. A — Sam'l B. Light (likely Dr. Sam'l Bahl Light), Ezekial Light, Israel H. Light, Joseph Light, & in Co. B. was Peter H. Light." Twelve days seems like a rather short period of service, so perhaps there is an error in one of the dates.
