According to the Myerstown Bicentenniel History "Trinity Tulpehocken (German) Reformed Church is "the spiritual Plymouth rock of this area and community". It is also known as the "Feast of the Roses" church. Jackson Township was formed in 1813 at the same time that Lebanon county was formed from parts of Dauphin and Lancaster counties. The beautiful church (I just visited there two weeks ago for the first time) is in the town of Millardsville, still Jackson Township, Lebanon Co., and can be seen from US RT 422 just before crossing into Berks county. The church once served an area of an over 10 mile radius until the present building (remodeled in 1900) and the "branch edifice" at Myerstown were built in the early 1850s. I have come to learn that the entire area that follows the Tulpehocken Creek from the Schuylkill through Berks into Lebanon county is known freely as the "Tulpehocken", and the name (from the Susquehanna-Delaware >Lenape< word for "land of the turtles") is found throughout the region across the counties. Towns (Myerstown was originally "Tulpehockentown"), townships (there is a "Tulpehocken Township" in Berks county), and areas/migrations ("Tulpehocken Settlement") refering to the early 1700 German emigration from New York, ("Tulpehocken Manor & Plantation") a 1960-80s bed and breakfast ranch estate on 422, etc. - JL
