    3. Hanover Township, Dauphin County was formed in 1739. From this, East and West Hanover were formed in 1785 and South Hanover was formed in 1842. Plus, East Hanover was split when Lebanon County was formed, part remaining in Dauphin, part going to the new Lebanon County. Many of the documents dated after the breakup still refer to the entire area as Hanover. This may be the area your ancestor was traveling from. The USGS came up with Hanover, Northampton Co. or York Co. Any > ideas which one? Another county? Any ideas why he would need to go so far > in winter? Thanks for your thoughts.
