Judy, > Dave, > Who was your ancestor? I have a Blauch ancestor who m a ships carpenter > on the canal also. This man, Jacob Renkenberger, was b in Columbiana Co., > OH. I remember reading in some of my OH research of a call for workers there > for the canal. Jacob married Sarah Blauch d/o Samuel who lived in > Waterworks, Leb Co, also connected with the Canal (for you non-natives). Samuel Blauch is indeed my ancestor. The family lore is that Samuel Blauch was a carpenter on the Union Canal, but I have not been able to document that fact. I am familiar with the name Jacob Renkenberger, but I was not aware he was from Ohio. Did Jacob moved to Pennsylvania for the purpose of working on the canal? If so, that is very interesting. Unfortunately, I have relatively little information regarding Samuel or his life. He did own property in Waterworks adjoining the raceway for the dam. Dave David N.
