There is a Hoke's Meeting House in North Cornwall Township. I don't know if there is a cemetery, too; but I guess there is, since I found it on a list of Lebanon County cemeteries on http://users.nbn.net/charo/cemeteries.html. Unfortunately, it isn't linked or on-line, or whatever the proper term is. Charles and Richard, There is a very small cemetery on Rt. 72, which I believe is in Cornwall Twp. I believe it is called Hoke's Cemetery. Is there any possibility they are buried there? I'm not sure if the LCHS has a listing of those buried there, or not. Thomas Shay was married to Susanna Rosenberger on 27 Aug 1837 at Salem Lutheran Church, Lebanon. Isaac Shay was married to Mary Ann Rosenberger on 30 July 1846 in Lebanon. Susanna and Mary Ann were sisters and were the daughters of Samuel and Anna Marie (Mary) Rosenberger. If anyone on this list is connected to the Shay family and has any information on Samuel and Mary Rosenberger (sometimes listed as Rosenberg), I would love to hear from you. I have census records, so don't need that. I would like to find a marriage record and baptizimal records. Also, I need to find evidence of William Rosenberger's connection to them, most especially a baptizimal record. Information I do have would indicate that he is Susanna & Mary Ann's brother and the son of Samuel & Mary but I need some kind of recorded proof. If anyone can help, I really would appreciate it. Thank so much. Marjorie marjorie@gmavt.net

Family legend has it that our ancestors (Johann George GOECKLE/GOECKEL and spouse Catherine) settled for a time in the Lebanon County area, migrating to what is now Wythe County, Virginia from that area circa 1768. Thus far no one has been able to discover a maiden name for Catherine although it appears she and John George were married sometime in 1762 with their first child, Anna Catherine, making her appearance 10 Mar 1763. At least two other children were born while the family was in Pennsylvania (John Jacob 8 Oct 1764 and John George Jr. 31 Mar 1766) and possibly a fourth child (Anna Mary 7 Apr 1768) was born there as well. These first children were supposed baptized by Johann Casper Flower and the baptisms were witnessed by Johann and Mary Stroh, Jacob Bender and Catherine Weisen. Some records indicated the Rev. Stoever baptized these first children but I haven't been able to find them listed in records of baptisms he attended. Some of the other families associated with the GOECKLE/GOECKEL family who were early settlers of Wythe County were the KETTRENINGS and CREGARS (both names somehow evolved eventually into CATRON), KEESLINGS, WAMPLERS, STEFFYS, FOGLESONGS, CASSELLS, UMBERGERS, LIDIS/LEEDYS and others. At least one researcher from several years ago believed John George GOECKLE to be the son of Johann Mattheus and Anna Barbara (GAENSLER) GOECKEL from the Saxe Meiningen, Thuringia area in Germany. It has been believed for a long while that John George immigrated to this country as a young man on the Ship Peggy in 1754. Not knowing Catherine's maiden name no one has yet been able to ascertain where she was originally from but everyone is certain that she was also German. Any direction here would be greatly appreciated. Dianna in MO

I'm looking for Lowry ( Lowery, Laurie, etc...) descendants with some Native American heritage. I am trying to find the ancestery of my Great Grandmother Eva M (Lowry) Light, wife of the late John Hoffer Light. She passed away at about 32 years of age around 1905. She is believed to have been at least part Native American and had several brothers and sisters. They were both from Lebanon (John died in Reading, PA). Thank You! Linda S

Hi, everybody, I'm back with another request for a lookup for the grave of Lovina/Lavina/Lavinia Labe/Lape. She is said to have died on 31 Dec 1891. She lived in Millcreek Township; so, I guess, Newmanstown and Millbach would be good places to look. Other possiblities - Womelsdorf and Stouchsburg. Thank you very much.
