Hello: I am new to this list and doing research on Shearer (Scherer) surname. I recently became aware of connection to the Cornman family which appers to have originated in Lebanon Co with George Cornman b1782 who married Ann Hollabaugh. They had son Ludewicus Cornman b 1810 and daughter Elizabeth b1812 in Cumberland Co who married Mary Shearer born ? and John Shearer b1810 respectively. At the time of marriage they resided in Armstrong Co. John and Mary Shearer were the offspring of George and Mary Shearer born in the 1780's who moved to Armstrong Co in the early 1800's. We are seeking further information on their county of origin and parents of George and Mary.

Nancy in Indiana < Hi Nancy, I have a deed dated May 18, 1793 from Dauphin County Pennsylvania Deed book "X" pages 172-173-174, in which my g-g-g-g-grandfather John Balsley and his wife, Margaret sold land in Paxton Twp. Burrough of Harrisburg to John Reed of Heidelburg Twp. (this is where my Balsleys had relocated from) Following this is a deed from John Reed and wife to someone else. This is the last of three pages and this page is very faint! I think I can make out wife's name as Elizabeth. I can send you copies if you like. You may want to see if you can get a better copy, but I will send you what I have. Karen Klaene <benklaene@compuserve.com> Cincinnati, OH
Could some please see if they can find an obituary or anything relating to my relative - Christian/Christopher Leaveringhouse/Leveringhouse/Livering - I have been told that he died intestate in Lebanon County, PA -(it could have been in Dauphin County also) he was born in the 1750's - served in the RW - first wife's name was Sarah ? and second one Eve ? I would take a guess that he died in the early to mid 1800's but that is only a guess. There were at least 8 children. Thank you - Anne

Israel Daniel Rupp (b.1803? in PA d. ca 1870, I think Phila. PA) was prominent historian of south central PA which includes Lebanon, Dauphin, Lancaster, York, Cumberland, Adams, Franklin etc. counties. You might look for bio of I> D> Rupp and any collateral Family Trees. Just a thought, not a specific answer for you. I. D. Rupp wrote several County Histories of this area pub. ca 1830 - 1840's. I know one was reprinted ca 1070 "History of Cumberland, Franklin, Adams Co.s". I read part of that book, but, am not certain of EXACT title. It was an excellent and very interestin book, copies of letters etc. and many quotes from other sources. Try checking with PA State Library in Harrisburg, PA for Rupp's Work. Hope this is interest to you. Sue Thank you for the wonderful Rupp information. I don't see a match, but will keep it handy just in case. Nicky
Thanks Wendell, >You might look >for bio of I> D> Rupp and any collateral Family Trees. > Try checking >with PA State Library in Harrisburg, PA for Rupp's Work. I know of I. Daniel Rupp and have check his Emigrant Ship list Book. I will check on the bio also. Nicky
I notice that in the Lebanon Co. census of 1850, there are quite a few RUPP names listed in different townships. I am trying to connect some names to my g-grandfather, William Scott Rupp, born abt. 1837 in Ohio, died in 1905 in Iowa. William's father or grandfathers names were either Emanuel or Nathaniel and they came from somewhere in Pa. I would like to hear from someone who knows about the Rupp families in the 1850's and before that in the 1700's. Thanks, Nicky Eickerman Vancouver, Wa.

It was plowed under in the 1960's due to disrepair. There is a nice monument desaignating it as Annville's oldest burial ground. The only listing found was that in the baove paper which was read before the Lebanon Co Historical Society in 1915 (not 1935). I have yet to do the research to find out more about this event, but I'm sure there is something in the church and town records about it. Many of my husband's ancestors were buried here - both Lutheran & Reformed. Some of the bodies and stones were moved to either Mt. Annville or Evergreen cemeteries in Annville. I must also check their records to see if it mentions where these bodies were reinterred. -Linnea
Hi All, For those of you researching the RUPP surname, there is a published genealogy of the Rupp family entitled, "A Brief Biographic Memorial of Joh. Jonas Rupp, and Complete Genealogical Family Register of his Lineal Descendants from 1756 to 1875, with an appendix" by I. Daniel Rupp. Published by L.W. Robinson in Philadelphia in 1875 The book may be available from the LDS libraries. I do know that they have it at the Pennsylvania Historical Society in Philadelphia, as I have copied pages from it concerning my Zehring ancestors. I am sorry, but I do not have the entire book, so I can not help with look ups. Alice Beard
