I'm looking for an obituary on a James Roland. The death occurred sometime during the 1930's. That is all that I know. If anyone can be of help, I would greatly appreciate it. Susan R.

Evelyn, Sorry. The only Mary I'm aware of was the daughter of Henry Shearer (no relation to my line) and Barbara Behme. Mary was born in 1768, when the land that later became Lebanon County was still part of Lancaster County, and died in 1855 in Upper Strausburg, PA. But Henry was one of six sons, and one of his brothers also may have had a daughter named Mary. I abandoned my researches on that family when I realized it wasn't mine. You might check http://pages.sbcglobal.net/cnev/ for other Shearer lines. Good luck, Richard Aurand Sherer
Thanks for your reply, Richard. Mary Shearer and Lewis Cornman came from Lebanon county to Rushville, Illinois (Schuyler County) where they had their children. She died and he married again to Jane P. Elser. I was just curious if you might have a connection to Mary since I have had such a hard time locating her family. Thanks again! Hi, Evelyn, Sorry to say, I have no record of a Mary Shearer in any of my lines. My gggrandfather's sister, Catherine Shearer, married a man named John Nees and moved to Tazewell County, IL, but that's as close as I can come. My Shearers were primarily in Lancaster County; one branch of the family lived in the Annville area of Lebanon County, right across the line from Lancaster County, and part of the family was de facto part of Dauphin County when it was carved off of Lancaster after the Revolutionary War.
