    3. Thanks everyone for responding to my "burg" location question. My real puzzle, if I didn't make it clear, was what township each of these was located in. Karen did a good job on this, so I am posting her response here. But appreciate all your input. Viam I am pretty sure is in upper Lebanon Co. somewhere. It regularly had its own column in the days when I was reading in the old newspapers, so guess it must have gone out of existence. It was a big cattle town at one time from what I can tell, but maybe all the cattle got tired of it and up and left? ---Richard > > > > Buck Lock > Don't know > > Centerville There are 11 places in Pennsylvania called Centerville. > Closest to the area are these: > Perry Co Liverpool Twp; Cumberland Co., Penn Twp., Lancaster Co, Hempfield > Twp., > > Campbelltown > Lebanon County; South Londenderry Twp. > > Grantville > Dauphin Co., Hanover Twp. > > Hockersville > Two: one is Cumberland Co., Penn Twp., Dauphin Co., Derry Twp > > Kingstown: > don't know > > Landisville: > Lancaster Co, East Hempfield Twp. > > Lochiel > Union Co., Buffalo Twp > > Oberlin > Dauphin Co., Swatara Twp > > Shellsville: > Dauphin Co., Hanover Twp > > Shirksville > Lebanon Co., Bethel Twp > > Viam > Don't know > > > > > I'm going to try and look through the townships in the 1900 census records > > wherein these villages are/were located, but since Ancestry hasn't indexed > > that I'd like to narrow my search by township(s). > > > > ---Richard > > > > > > > > > > ==== PALEBANO Mailing List ==== > > to contact list manager: [email protected] > > > > >

    3. Richard, You might try this link to search for the possibilities on counties. I think it's current data but you might check the county site to see if there's a history of township formation. I was surprised to find that there are 9 Centervilles in PA! The one I'm familiar with is in Lancaster Co. in West Hempfield Twp. Landisville has two entries -- Lancaster and Bucks. Again I'm familiar with the one in Lancaster Co. in East Hempfield Twp. Good luck! http://resources.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/townco.cgi Judy Baker

    3. In going through old newspaper issues of the early 1900's I came upon the mention of the following villages where people of the surname I am researching were mentioned. I wonder if anyone can help me find the exact township (and county!) some of these are located within. They may be in either Lebanon Co. or in Dauphin Co. If you know the township and county please post to this list: Buck Lock Centerville Campbelltown Grantville Hockersville Kingstown Landisville Lochiel Oberlin Shellsville Shirksville Viam I'm going to try and look through the townships in the 1900 census records wherein these villages are/were located, but since Ancestry hasn't indexed that I'd like to narrow my search by township(s). ---Richard

    2. Hello, I just read your e-mail about the Family book of the Wolf Family. To my surprise I found two of my ancestors as sponsors of Allen David Wolf. Levi Giering and his wife lived in Emmaus. He was an artist, creating pottery etc. His wife was a Wieder. She was his first wife and died early in life. Levi married a second time. Valentine Wieder was the son of John Adam Wieder, ancestor of the Wieder line in Lehigh Co. If I am not mistaken Valentine lived in Emmaus as well. Anna in AZ

    3. I don't remember which list had people looking for the Wolf name. However, on EBay, there is a family Bible for the Wolf & Fink families (I have NO monetary interest in this item. I also have NO connection to these families.) http://cgi.aol.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3512309150&category=29220 C.1867 Lehigh County, PA Bible Births/Deaths! Item # 3512309150 there are some interesting genealogical records relating to the Wolf and Fink families of Pennsylvania, as well as other families in Lehigh county, PA. This includes marriages, births and deaths. Unfortunately, the sale ends in just 4 mins. I did manage to copy the one page they showed with some information on it.
