I am looking for connections and information on the following surnames in Lebanon and surrounding counties: Brestle, Brandeberry, Fornwalt, Witz and various misspellings of each. I'm searching for a foot-hold on a sheer rock faced block...any information would be appreciated. Many members of these families moved west to Ohio together, but not sure from where. Thank you, Patrick Witz

Hello, I am searching for more information about an Emanuel Mease, born March 1847, probably in Union Township, Lebanon County. The earliest record I have found is a listing on the 1870 Census for Union Township: Emanuel Mease, 24, laborer Sarah Mease, 22, wife Isadora Mease,1, daughter Jane Dundore, 8, no relationship listed (possibly a niece) Henry Houser, 21, mill-wright, no relationship listed (boarder?) There is no record for Emanuel Mease on the 1880 and 1890 Censuses. Emanuel's first wife Sarah died in 1882. I do not know if they had other children besides Isadora. I believe they may have been the parents of my greatgrandfather Hiram (Hiley) F. Mease, born June 9, 1874 in Greenpoint, Union Twp., but at this point I have no proof. Emanuel Mease is found on the 1900 Census for Union Township; he is remarried to a Mary nee Rupp Ditzler. I have a copy of their marriage license. They were married June 11, 1892 at the Lickdale Parsonage by an O. S. Scheirer, Minister of the Gospel. Emanuel lists his mother as a Rosanna Mease; his father is listed as deceased. Emanuel Mease, born March 1847, 53, married 9 years Mary Mease, wife, born Feb. 1845, 55, married 9 years, 3 children, 3 living Lizzie Ditzler, dau, born June 1877, 22, single Irvin/Irwin Ditzler, son, born March 1875, 25 Sallie Ditzler, dau, born Feb. 1880, single I do not have a death date or burial place for Emanuel Mease. He died sometime between 1900 and 1910. He is not listed on the 1910 Census; Mary Mease is listed as a widow. I would appreciate any information someone might have concerning this Mease family. Thank you very much for your help! Elizabeth Hagenbuch [email protected]

Hi Geri First let me tell you that I think you are doing a great job of getting information on the list. I do appreciate all the time you put into it. I have nothing on carbon county or northumberland or even monroe county. I just happen to be a descendant of Frederick Gerhardt and have spent a lot of time doing research on the family. The last information that I posted on this family came from Annette Kunselman Burgert research, Eighteenth Century Emigrants From Langenselbold In Hesse To America. Also I have been historian for the Frederick Gerhart Family for the past few years since the death of Dr. Spannuth. So I thought that I could clear up some miss information that has been out there for many years. So please don't let me stop you from trying to help all of us.....Sandy
Sandy, you read a "different book", that's means your right and I am wrong,or I read differnet "books" and that I am right and your are wrong. So when it comes to Carbon County, what do you have? Best Wishes, Geri

Frederick Gerhardt was born in the Wetterau in County Ysenberg, in Langen-Selbold, March 26, 1715. He married 1st on Jan 28, 1737, Anna Elisabeth Fischer, d/o Jost Henrich Fischer. They had a son Peter. He married 2nd Barbara Rieger on Feb. 14, 1740. It has long been thought that he was a descendant of Paul Gerhardt the hymn writer, however there is now proof that this is not true. Frederick Gerhardt is the son of Wilhelm Gerhard master cartwright from Nieder Mittlau, who was the son of Jõrg Gerhard. Wilhelm married Anna Elisabeth widow of Johann Faust in Langenselbold on Nov. 17, 1707. Her first marriage, recorded June 23, 1701, reveals that she was the d/o Johannes Keÿser, master cartwright and inhabitant at Langenselbold. Jõrg Gerhardt was married twice his 2nd wife Anna d/o Thomas ?Lufft was the mother of Wilhelm, who was born Feb. 24, 1683. The father of Jõrg Gerhardt was Georg Gerhard deceased at his first marriage on Feb. 26, 1673 to Anna Ruppert. What is listed in the History of Berks Co., is incorrect information......Sandy
