    1. [PALEBANO] Need advice on handling a old newspaper
    2. Marlene Weaber Leber
    3. I have very recently received a 1915 newspaper from my Aunt. The newspaper was kept because of a article that appeared in it about our family reunion of 1915 in Hershey. The newspaper is wrapped around a cardboard tube that is 1- 1 1/2" in diameter. The paper seems to be brittle & fragile. I t is kept in place on the cardboard tube by a few strings. I would like very much to get this newspaper opened without damaging it. I had thought that if I were to cut the string & let it unravel off the roll by itself that this would be a first step. But if I do this, once it is off the roll, what do I do? Is there anyone that has suggestions?

    1. [PALEBANO] Valley Glen Park
    2. Linnea Travis Miller
    3. Valley Glen Park is located in North Annville township along the Swatara Creek and operated as an amusement park/picnic grounds from the late 1800's until the mid-1920's. There were some unique "rides" including the Chutey-Chute, Steamboat Annie on the Swattie and the Flying Horse. Many church picnics were held there as well as just a nice place to go for the families for an afternoon of relaxation. Milton Hershey visited several times and used Valley Glen for his company picnics prior to developing his own recreational area at Hershey. The Flying Horse was a small merry-go-round-type ride. There were 24 horses, all solid wood and hand-carved, with interchangeable legs. About 1926 the Flying Horse was dismantled and the horses sold to someone in Bellgrove. That person sold them to a gentleman from Harrisburg. The question is: can anyone help try and track down even one of these horses from Valley Glen Park? Might anyone have any family photos of visiting Valley Glen Park? Thanks for your help! -Linnea --

    3. Charles, Do you have any info on the Jacob Moyer Burial Ground, which may have been affiliated with Moyer's church? My ancestor died in Dauphin County but according to the death index was buried in Moyer's property, which I believe is just east of the Lebanon County line. Cheers, Richard

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/jdB.2ACI/356.1 Message Board Post: I have been researching Mathias for some time now. I thought one time he was my 5th great grandfather but now believe his John born 1771 stayed in pa. My John (4th great grandfather) came to Tennessee in 1790 and married Elizabeth Hatler. A young man named Samuel came with him. Mathias had 12 children John 1771, Catherine 1772, Jacob 1774, Barbara 1776, Susanna 1778, Anna 1780, Benjamin 1781, Margaret 1783, Henry 1784, Samuel 1786, Christian 1789, and Sarah 1792. Mathias was Heinrich Buttner's 1st son. John 1750 was #2, then Henry, Phillip, and then we believe his wife died because he went to another part of Pa with his sons and married again and had 7 more children George 1771, Anna Marie 1772, John 1773, Henry 1774, David 1778, Susanna 1780 (twin) and Rose Anna 1780 (twin) I hope this helps some Jim
