I am seeking descendants of Benjamin Houk (1793-1877) m. Nancy Hazen ca 1815 to find more about the family of their daughter Sarah Margaret b. 1844 m .David Fry. The subject of my search is my great grandmother, Lucinda, who was raised by Benjamin and used the Houk surname before she married Winter Trigg, also from Lawrence County. She appears in the 1870 Census as living with Benjamin and Nancy with their children Eliza 22, Albert 18, and William W. 15. She is listed as Lucinda Barnhart, age 8. Benjamin in his Will mentioned the three children of his daughter, Sarah, who married David Fry. Then he mentions "Lucinda Houk- daughter of Sarah who I have raised." This leads one to assume she may have been born out of wedlock. We KNOW Lucinda had a " sister", Nancy, who married a McCurdy from New Castle . Nancy was born in 1869 and was one of the three children listed in the 1870 Census with sisters Mary and Francis born of Sarah Houk and David Fry.
