    3. I would like to welcome those of you new to this site and tell you there are some really great folks who are willing to help just for the asking. I, myself do Volunteer research at Andersonville Civil War Prison in Andersonville Georgia. Any research I do is absolutely at NO cost and I am willing to do what I can. My sources are the following....... There are 2 online databases to do lookups.....One by name...one by Company and Regiment. I also have a copy of the Dorence Atwater Death list which has the names and grave numbers of some 13000 graves with only 460 marked as " UNKNOWN " This along with a CD I have which contains 34,000 names of the 45,000 who were imprisoned there which helps me find prisoner records because of misspellings of the names or alternate names. I visit the prison site every couple of weeks and have access to the onsite databases as well as the physical files. I would like to let you know of another service I offer which is to take photos of graves for a small fee. Please see my website which is dedicated to those who passed through the gates of Andersonville. Kevin Please visit my website at http://www.angelfire.com/ga2/Andersonvilleprison/index.html

    1. [PALAWREN] Civil War article c. 1962?
    2. Christi Watkins
    3. I am looking for a copy of an article that came out around 1962 in a Lawrence County Newspaper. The article was about a CIVIL WAR REUNION that took place in the late 1870's, involving the 101st PA Co. "C", and possibly others. The article listed some names that served from the Lawrence County Area and also gave details on the "reunion" that took place after the civil war. Does any of this sound familiar to anyone? I'm sorry I don't have more information but I have been told that this article existed and I'm interested in finding a copy, if possible. Christi in Texas

    3. Hi Jan, My grandparents were from the New Castle area. Grandma grew up in Moravia and in later years they moved to Lowellville where my dad was born and attended school. Lowellville High School (We called them the Lowellville Rats) were the archrivals of my high school sports teams (Springfield Local). Used to have fights at nearly every game. Anyway, there was also an Irish Ripple in the New Castle area - some of the McConahy clan lived there. Anyway, the public library at Youngstown, Mahoning County has an excellent research library and there are several good Mahoning County histories (can't recall exact titles.) 3. I guess I need to clarify just a bit. I know Lowellville is near Youngtown, OH, and is in Poland twp, Mahoning Co., OH. I re-looked at my New Castle newspaper source, (an Obit) which states the individual (a James Ripple, age 45) died at his residence on Lowell Road near Edenburg. I guess since I also have located ancestors living *in* Lowellville, *and* Edenburg, I was assuming the Lowell Road was the road taken to go to Lowellville. I also check some of the Internet map sites, and the road numbers look like US 224 might be this road - it does go to New Castle - 12 mile jaunt. When I looked at the map and zoomed closer (driving directions), I also found one of the roads named Ripple Road in Lowellville - this is one of the surnames I am looking for with this information, and could be named from the family that lived along here. Again, any information anyone would have on resources, history, etc. would be greatly appreciated - Thanks to those of you who have e-mailed me privately. Jan
