I found by doing a search at google.com, this from another researcher's ancestor: "Death 12 Jun 1851, Oreville, Shenango Twp., Lawrence Co., Penn." Not sure it helps, but it might. Good luck! Karen in Michigan
Jim - I grew up in Beaver Falls, Beaver County, PA and lived in Ellwood City for a few years. I have never heard of Oreville, PA. There are places around there known as Wampum, Wurtemburg, Frisco, Duckrun and even a Possum Hollow, but no Oreville. Looking up on various maps, the only Oreville, PA I could find was between Reading and Allentown. Can anyone help with the location of subject town ca 1880 where several of my ancestors claimed their residence/birth place ? I want to share something with you all- Maybe you already know this (and if you do, what else do you know? share! share!) This is a site that indexes the Lawrence Cty Census for 1880 and includes more names than just the households with children under 10 years old. Be sure to check out the Introduction page for a complete description of what's there. http://members.aol.com/law1880/index.htm Thanks to D J Nicolls for compiling this info for all to use!
Anyone have any info on a Marcus Clark Rodgers?
I have some old 1832 deeds for property in Hickory Township in Croton on Harlansburg Road that were processed in Beaver County court. Perhaps your records are there? Amy - The town of Harlansburg is on Rt 19 between New Castle and Slippery Rock approx 10 miles to the east of New Castle. Since it lies in the northern half of Lawrence County, it most likely came from Mercer County. Using one of the maps provided at Rootsweb (thanks Rootsweb) for a reference, it shows Harlansburg in Mercer. Hi there! I will be in New Castle sometime the first week of June to do some research but I need help in finding Clark Mills Cemetery. I am searching for the grave of Quimby R. Graham d feb 15 1937 and his wife Laura J. (Bennett) Graham may 10 1936. Does anyone know if this cemetery still has grave sites from back then? I am also researching my John Robert Bennett and Janet Roberts parents of Laura (Bennett) Graham. Quimby's parents were Samuel Graham and Eliza Bond. If anyone has addresses for the local sextons, it would be wonderful if you could pass it on to me! Thanks for everything!
