    1. [Palatines] Re: PALATINES-D Digest V02 #13
    2. I am trying to find the country of origin of my ancestors, Henry Siteman (also seen spelled as Sitemore, Seithman and Seideman), who appears in SC in the mid 1700s at the age of 15, and his wife, Barbara Meyer (with many variant spellings), daughter of Andrew. I have no information on any of Henry's siblings or parents. He was a Loyalist, and I have a lot of information on him in SC and later in Nova Scotia, but nothing before he appears in SC. There are Sitemans in England, but he listed his country of origin as Germany in a Loyalist petition for reparations in Nova Scotia. He also had a land grant from the English king, as did he wife. I have no evidence that he spoke German. Anyone have any idea on how the name might have changed? Or where he might have come from? I have suspected Palatine, as there are many Irish connections, and one in Ireland with the name Sateman. Linda Siteman SilverLynx@aol.com
