    1. [PALATINES] [EXTERNAL] Neues Buch: Auswanderung aus dem Oldenburger Land in die USA - Einzelschicksale mit Hintergründen, Briefen und Fotos
    2. Dirk Oltmanns
3. Hi Listers, Wanting to pose a question or two to you in Germany please. I've been working on the GROLL side of the family for over 20 years. Have gathered many names and other information. We are trying to join two large branches of the family, but have encountered a problem. 1. In the time of 1760-1763 what type of records might have been kept for births, marriages and deaths. I'm used to looking at civil records and church records. BUT, were there other records being kept of these important events in family life? The reason for this question, is that the records for the area around Borrstadt, Palatinate (Bavaria then) seem to have been in some sort of disaster for those years. I'm hoping that there may be some other sources available for searching. Yes I am familiar with Speyer. 2. Does anyone know in what years these civil and church records started to be sent to central archives for storage? Did they send originals and keep copies or did everything go? Thanks very much everyone. Merry Christmas to you all. Narda

    3. Greetings Listers I have a little puzzlement. One of my Palatine ancestors (going back from Irish Palatine immigrants in 1709) has an alternative name listed in various Internet Trees - Marquard im KIRCHHOF or BURGERMEISTER He is noted as the son of Marquard im KIRCHHOF, with his daughter named as Engelgut BURGERMEISTER (that being her maiden name). Can anyone help me resolve this apparent change of surname please? Many thanks. 3. Suggestion. When sending a request give approximate locations so they can be found more easily. Found a reference that indicates Eleanor married Robert Tompkins not William. This fits with 1850 census for brother Elias living next door. theclown16

    3. Richard…. At this point I am less interested in living/recent Hummels than I am in one’s who have married into my family’s main branch — Tompkins. Later, I may try to fill in the Hummel blanks as well. I do thank you for responding to my query. ken tompkins > On Jan 12, 2016, at 8:24 AM, Richard Hayes via <palatines@rootsweb.com> wrote: > > Hi Ken, > > I have a number of living Hummels in my file.
