Wed., Feb. 7, 1844 Lancaster Examiner & Herald, Deaths, p. 3: CROSS.-In the Borough of Manheim, at the house of her father, Mr. Peter CROSS, on the 19th inst.[sic], Miss Elisabeth CROSS, in the 31st year of her age. Her disease was the consumption, with which she had been ailing about a year. EATON.-At Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on Friday evening the 12th ult., Thomas [EATON], aged 2 years and 8 months. EATON.-On Sunday, the 14th ult., in the afternoon, James [EATON], aged 5 years. EATON.-On the evening of the same day, Lewis [EATON], aged 3 years and seven months, children of Robert A. EATON, Printer, formerly of this city. McLENEGAN.-In the death of Elijah McLENEGAN, Esq., we have lost one our best citizens. He was a native of Lancaster, lived amongst us for the space of 48 years, and has passed away as highly respected as he is deeply lamented. [A tribute precedes & follows this, but is not transcribed here.] Wed., Feb. 14, 1844 Lancaster Examiner & Herald, Deaths, p. 3: WENGER.-On the 1st inst., in Green township, Wayne co., Ohio, Mary WENGER, wife of Henry WENGER (late of Leacock township, Lancaster county,) aged 53 years, 10 months and 11 days. KURTZ.-In Manheim township, Lancaster county, on the 6th inst., Mr. John KURTZ in the 84th year of his age. Mr. Kurtz received pension both from the United States and from the State of Pennsylvania, for services rendered to his country. We can only appreciate the merits of the revolutionary heroes, by a consideration of the inestimable blessings which that revolution has conferred upon our country, and the inauspicious circumstances under which it was accomplished......When we meet, at this late period, one of those few sacred mementos of the armies of Washington, venerable with age and blossoming for the grave, he seems to linger on earth to teach other generations the price and value of freedom. To these honored few did Mr. KURTZ belong........ [Only a portion of this lengthy tribute has been transcribed here.] HENDERSON.-At his residence in Philadelphia, on the evening of Sunday, the 4th inst. in the 30th year of his age, Lorenzo N. HENDERSON, M.D., son of William HENDERSON, Esq., of Salisbury township, in this county. On the Wednesday following, his remains were conveyed from Philadelphia to the residence of his father, and on the next day they were interred in the burial ground of St. John's Church, Pequea. Wed., Feb. 21, 1844 Lancaster Examiner & Herald, Deaths, p. 3: HOSTETTER.-On Sunday, the 4th inst., in Manor township, Lancaster county, Mr. Benjamin HOSTETTER, aged 88 years, 10 months and 21 days. HITZ[?]/ HAGG.-On Tuesday last in Chambersburg, Anne HITZ[?], daughter of Mr. Barnard HAGG, of this city, in the 28th year of her age. [It is unclear if Anne is single or married & whether her surname is Hitz or Hagg.] KLEISS.-In this city, on Monday the 19th inst., Mrs. Anna Maria KLEISS, widow of the late Philip KLEISS, in the 32d year of her age. The friends of the deceased are respectfully invited to attend her funeral on Wednesday, at 2 o'clock at the residence of her father, Mr. Barnard HAGG, in West King street. Wed., Feb. 28, 1844 Lancaster Examiner & Herald, Deaths, p. 3: MYERS.-On Friday the 23rd inst. at the residence of Mr. Jacob Gerber, in Leacock township, John MYERS, son of Mr. John MYERS of this city, in the 23d year of his age.
