    3. Are there are lists (and if so where) for the "Committee of Observation" for Revolutionary War for Lancaster Co? I am specifically looking for Casimer Beyer/Byers Revolutionary service in the "Committee of Observation". He is listed in "Pennsylvania Genealogies Chiefly Scotch-Irish and German" by William Henry Egle, M.D. Also, I need to find a marriage record for Casimer's daughter, Mary, who married Ludwig Brandt, abt 1765-1780 most likely in Lancaster Co since both families resided there. They lived in Derry Twp. This is also stated in the above book. Does anyone have church or baptismal records that prove this marriage? Or else tell me where else to look? Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks, Marcia

    3. Hi Marci,      I've seen lists of the Committee of Observation published in newspapers of the day, there were no Lancaster newspapers at that time so these will be Philadelphia newspapers.  I've seen these lists for other locations.  There is a service that has these old newspapers on-line so you might check there.  I can never remember the name of the service but I can check if you want.      Also, there might be something in the printed Pa. Archives.  A service called "Foot Note" has these records online. http://www.footnote.com/documents/185749/pennsylvania_archives/ Footnote if free to use the Pa. Archives but they have other sources they charge for.  The Pa. Archives has a large number of records of interest to the genealogists, tax lists, warrant lists (people who bought land from the Penn's), etc.  If you do a search of someone's name use quotation marks, "John Smith", if you don't your find every instance of the name John in the Pa. Archives which will bring more hits than you want.  You can search using only one name if your name is pretty unusual.  The trick for you is to figure out how they would have spelled it in colonial times, as in Beyers or Byers, if you've seen it published, as in Egles, I'd serarch using that spelling.       If you use my link to Footnote, bookmark it because they don't make the Pa. Archives easy to find because its free.  All they ask is that you provide your email address when you download something, after that they will send you updates.      Good luck.                                                                                                          Jim Conestoga Area Historical Society http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~pacahs/index.htm Covering Conestoga, Manor, Martic, Pequea, Washington Boro and Millersville. ________________________________ From: Marcia <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Saturday, March 28, 2009 10:57:38 AM Subject: Re: [PALANCAS] Rev War Service-"Committee of Observation" Are there are lists (and if so where) for the "Committee of Observation" for Revolutionary War for Lancaster Co? 3. If the book didn't give a specific date of marriage, the source was probably some other document - such as Casimer's will (Lancaster Will Book Y2: 63; 1784). It could also be based on information found in a deed, an Orphans Court record, or other probate records associated with Casimer's estate. Good luck. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Marcia" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, March 28, 2009 10:57 AM Subject: Re: [PALANCAS] Rev War Service-"Committee of Observation" > Are there are lists (and if so where) for the "Committee of Observation" > for > Revolutionary War for Lancaster Co? > > I am specifically looking for Casimer Beyer/Byers Revolutionary service in > the "Committee of Observation".
