    1. [PALANCAS] MUMMA
    2. >From Brethren Encyclopedia, p 896: "MUMMA (MOOMAW) FAMILY. The family was of French Huguenot derivation; because of religious persecution they fled in the 16th and 17th centuries to the German Palatinate. Lenhart Mumma, with his wife, Juliana, and their six children, arrived in Philadelphia on the Johnson on Sept 19, 1732. Lenhart's youngest son, John, had but one child, who was also named John. This John had 11 children, the eldest being Christian, who was the father of B F Moomaw, the Virginia elder. B F's daughter married Samuel Crumpacker; his son Daniel C Moomaw (m. Rebecca Crumpacker) joined the Progressive Brethren, The Moomaws had settled at Daleville, VA ca 1780 and remain active in that state. Members of the Moomaw family joined the westward movement and were among the Brethren pioneers in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, and Kansas. NWC" Citations include M M Coleman's "Moomaw: An Account of the Descendants of Lenhart Moomaw" (1964). Surprisingly (to me), the ministerial lists volume of B E showed nobody named MUMMA, although there were plenty of Mummerts. Then there was a full column of ministers with the last name of MOOMAW, but none named George. Sorry. J **************Join ChristianMingle.comĀ® FREE! Meet Christian Singles in your area. Start now!
