Hello Ernest, That's quite alright. Please don't worry about it. It is very confusing with the Bombergers and Baumgartners in that area. I was just reading an article written by Howard E. Bumgardner of Indianapolis in 1963. He fouind different spelling variations within in own line, noting there were 3 different passenger lists A, B & C to compare. List A is the most helpful, he writes, being the most complete and most carefully prepared as it was the Master's or Captain's list. List B, he says was the names of only male passengers above the age of 16 who were made to repeat and subscribe to the Declaration of Allegiance in their own handwriting, if they could write. If not, the name was written by a clerk. List C was made in the same way as List B, he says, with the passenger signing if he could, and if not, the clerk endeavored to write it. He gives an example: List A - Christopher Bumgarner (wife Ursley Bumgarner) List B - Christ. Bumgarner List C - Christ. Boomgardner So, which is correct. I really don't know. Although, it appears for the most part, the PA ones go by either Baumgartner or Baumgardner, with the exception of the Bombergers of Warwick Twp. Plus there are some that us Bumgarner, Bomgarner, etc... Thanks again for your help. I'll write later this weekend about the Shallenbergers. Have to get back to work right now. Sherry
