    3. I've noticed that with Manheim versus Manheim Township, too. At least once I noticed that the census enumerator had written Manheim on that particular page but all the other pages in that group had Manheim Township written on it. Must have gotten tired of writing it! So it is not always the transcriber that makes errors. ALSO, some of the draft registrations for WWI and II come up for the name you were searching for but show the card for another person. I have found that you can track your person down by going through the directories at the top. All the names are in alphabetical order but may be in a different section. I don't know how to explain it clearly at the moment without an example at hand, but if anyone comes across this and wants help, just email me. When I went to the Lancaster Historical Society and checked their tax records, it turned out that he lived in East Earl that year. I doublechecked Ancestry, and sure enough, they said he lived in Earl. I took a look at the scan of the actual page, and it said East Earl Township. I complained to them, and they checked and said that they would fix it, but that it would be a long process. > > So, if you use ancestry.com to view census record, do doublecheck the heading on the scan to make sure it matches the data in their indexing. It may be, for all I know, that they only indexed one or two names wrong. Then again, the whole township may be mis-indexed. > > Thanks, > > Triste > --- > > If you can't get rid of them ugly old skeletons in the closet, at least teach 'em how to dance funny. Billy C.
