    3. Been following the discussion about Ancestry. I've given up on them. There are too many errors in what they publish for too much money. I've been researching my ancestors for over ten years and I must agree with Pam -- if you come across a hot lead, you can't beat a direct letter of intro stating who you are and what you're searching for. Always enclose a stamped, self-addressed envelope. It works every time! Maybe the person you've contacted isn't the one, but at least you'll get a response and maybe another lead to follow. When you actually ring the bell, you'd be surprised at what you get back. I once sent an inquiry to a possible in South Carolina (I live in Western Mass.) and received an envelope full of great stuff. Her enclosed letter started: "Hi, Ray. Welcome to the extended family!" Ray Be careful of that for which you search. You may find it.
