[The tribute continues but is not transcribed here.] YOHE.-Died at her residence in this city, on Monday morning, the 17th instant[sic], Mrs. Catharine YOHE, aged 63 years. In her death society has sustained a loss; the poor have been deprived of their best friends, and her children of an affectionate parent. Mrs. YOHE was a remarkable woman. Her powers of comprehension and views of business and society, were bold and clear, and her energies and capacity for execution, surpassing those of her own sex, were scarce second to the most enterprising of the other sex. She was the daughter of a wealthy and highly respectable Lancaster county farmer. Having married early in life, she removed to this city, and her husband proving unfortunate in business, Mrs. YOHE commenced keeping an hotel. Her history while engaged in this occupation, is, in some sort, the history of the Western trade with our city. She was contemporary with it in her character of hostess, for a period of upwards of forty years. And it is to have done something, and perhaps not a little, for the benefit of that trade, to have kept at that early period, a good house for the accommodations of the Western merchants, annually visiting our city; and they ever found her house their home. She kept successively, the Red Lion, the "Western," the "Washington," (in Fourth street) and the North American Hotel; the latter of which, one of the largest and most complete establishments in our city, she erected herself, at a cost of near one hundred thousand dollars.
