Does anyone on the list have knowledge of the Engelhart Family of West Hempfield, Lancaster County? The family is listed on the 1870 census as: Casper, age 66, head of household, works in mine, born in Baden. Henrietta, age 53, keeping house (wife, apparently), born in Baden. George, age 28 (son, apparently), works in mine, born in Baden. Joseph, age 25 (son, apparently), works in mine, born in Baden. I've been researching the Engelhart Family of Pike County for about ten years, and have reason to believe that the Engelharts who settled in Shohola, Pike County, where they became prominent farmers, were part of the West Hempfield Engelhart family. I suspect that there were three -- two sons, Jacob and Casper (my great grandfather), and a married daughter, Catherine, who emigrated with her husband, Joseph Heckel. All were from Baden. Their ages fit comfortably, and in Jacob's biography it's mentioned of his having been a miner at one time. Unfortunately, Jacob's bio doesn't mention his possible roots in West Hempfield. Any info or leads to further research will be gratefully received. Ray Cassidy Ashfield, MA
