A cousin of my mother's wrote brief highlights of his brothers life. One of the pieces of information is that his father andall of his brothers (one of which was my grandfather) attended the Brickerville Academy in Lancaster County. I can only assume this would be close to Brickerville but I can find no information. Does anyone have any idea where it may have been or what other name it may have gone by? Nancy Houston
I've never heard of the Brickerville Academy but it could have been a local school before the Pa. School law was passed in 1835. There were lots of local schools at that time, run by teachers as a business, no public support. Most of these disappeared after the public school law was passed. One of my great great grandfather's operated a school in Philadelphia.
