I see where DNA has been picking up in the research of family research. As you may already know, "we" have Hartman,s in Lancaster County, PA. Yes, Penna. Dutch. Ernest Weinhold Yes, we have a couple of hyphotheses that we would like to prove or disprove. We know that Tobias Hartman(n) lived in Strasburg Township in Lancaster County prior to his move to York County (York County deed gives his prior residence). We know almost nothing of his time in Lancaster County other than he was probably there between 1770 and 1779. We would like to see if he is related to any of the other Hartman families from this area in Lancaster County. Our Y-chromosome DNA is very unique and could easily prove or disprove relationship. Another hypothesis is we believe he may be the Tobias Hartmann who is listed as having left the Zellertal (Valley of Zell) of the Rheinland-Pfalz region of Germany in 1770. This area is near Donnersberg. We also have found that our DNA is a close match to a family named Hoehne who comes from Jettenbach, which is 10-25 km from the Zellertal. We believe that we may be on to something here. Thus we are looking for German participants from this area. Also, through DNA from desparate branches of our family tree, we have already ascertained that our genealogy tree to Tobias Hartmann is accurate. Thanks!
