    3. First, thank you for posting this. It answers a lot of questions about the Cunningham Patton family, including the name of his wife (my 4th great grandmother). Second, fwiw, the name of the housekeeper in William McLaughlin's home in 1880 was Sarah Hagan, according to the transcribed version of the census at familysearch.org. Finally, the individual listed as "Garrison Patton" probably was "Harrison Patton," son of John Patton. Harrison was born c. 1843, according to the 1870 census. I really haven't researched the Spence family, so I'm afraid I can't help you in return as much as you've helped me. But if I do run across anything, I will let you know. I don't know if this means anything, but Jesse and Rebecca Spence are buried next to the family of John McCombs at the Mt. Nebo Methodist Church cemetery. But that could be just coincidence.
