My gggrandfather Peter Bachenberg left Germany in Feb. 1853 and, like so many other Germans, came to the U.S. Family information is that he first settled in Lancaster County, PA. A son, Peter, was born there in May of 1855. Peter Bachenberg Sr. settled permanently in IA purchasing land in Nov. 1856. I surmise that he may have had someone help pay passage over and lived in Lancaster County to settle up. I have done some preliminary looking at the Family History Library and don't believe he owned any property while he was in PA. My question: Is there any way to find out where he lived in Lancaster County? Thanks. Joan Shurtliff
