Hello All, I'm new to this particular list. If there is anyone on here who is working on the Mitchell Family that most likely started in this area & ultimately moved on to Westmoreland County & Allegheny County, PA & then to Ohio & parts west, I would appreciate hearing from you. I am particularly interested in one Matthew Mitchell who was in the Revolutionary War from Westmoreland County, PA & then had land grants in what became Allegheny County, PA. He later moved on to Muskingham County, OH, where he died. His son Matthew also moved to Ohio & died in Logan County. It is my belief that his older brother was Alexander, also in Westmoreland County & others named William, Ebenezer & I believe John. This Matthew married the daughter of Matthew Ritchey of the York & Adams County area by Rev. John Cuthbertson. The goal is to find out if Matthew was born here or came with his parents or brothers to this country & the originating country. I am hoping that wills, deeds or church records might be of help. These people may have come from Scotland or England between 1729 & 1749. Any & all clues will be appreciated.
