Hello Jim, This is actually a different David Hess than the one that resided there right outside of Conestoga Center. This David Hess lived back closer to the area near the Byerland Mennonite Church. I am pretty sure he is the son of Christian Hess (1756-1818) & Catharine Goghenour. In Christian Hess's will (M-1-155) dated 10 Aug 1818 he mention's a son David along with son's Christian, Jr., John & Adam and daughter's Elizabeth, Esther & Catharine. It is this David Hess that I believe married a Martha or Mary Line. It now looks as though David may have died as early as 1830. This Hess family descends from Hans & Magdalena's Hess's son Samuel Hess where the David Hess who is buried off of Sickmans Mill Road is descended from their son Michael Hess. So the two David Hess' were cousins to each other. Frank W.
