Can anyone help me interpret this 1696 London custom house record from the Maryland archives. I have little knowledge of ships so would appreciate help. Here is what I think it says There are three ships. The ship Eliza out of Glasco (Glasgow Scotland?) with Robert Sinclair as ship's Master a ship carrying (burth = burthen/burden) 20 ton square in its stern (back of the boat) The ship Barbary out of Glasco (master?)is Hugh Scott, a ship built by the Dutch with burden of 120 Ton The ship Robert of (Ireland?)with burden of 140 square ton in its stern. Governor of Virga Custom House Londo July, 1696 Eliza of Glasco Robt Sinclear Mastr burth 20 Ton Sq: Sterne Barbary of Glasco Hugh Scott Dutch built burth 120 Ton Robt of Iruin burth 140 Ton Square Sterne Govr Maryland.
