I sent a family tree to a private family society, only to have it show up on gencirlces.com, including information on myself. I contacted the person responsable for posting it, and she wrote back indicating that gencircles would not allow her to pull or edit this information. She is supposedly still trying. I agree........not only should we use this resource with caution, we should contribute to it with caution. I found some personal emails of mine cut and pasted into a tree on gencircles. I attempted to contact the person who posted the info, but the email address was dead. The personal email of mine which was posted contained pretty harmless information, but it still made me feel quite uncomfortable. And if it is true that gencircles will not allow you to edit your info, I just wouldn't contribute, period.
I appreciated reading the postings about gencircles. Another, more valuable site that may be of interest: www.lancasterhistory.org When searching the Columbia Spy online, I found a sale ad for an ancestor's property.
