Thank you for the Kuntz information. Michael Kuntz (Sr) must have been born about 1755. He served in the Revolution with Col. Dotterer. The uncle who compiled the family tree fairly obviously left out a generation. He had only one Michael Kuntz the father of John A. - granted he could have been his father at age about 65, but more likely there was a Michael Jr. This his been difficult to find hard data. Nancy

Jim- If the rejection you got was due to a SORBS bounce/block just resend the message and it usually will go through. RootsWeb uses SORBS as a spam-fighting tool and occasionally a valid legitimate server at Yahoo or AOL or other ISP gets on the list temporarily and causes your email sent to a list to be blocked. Hi Margie, Check Churches and Cemeteries of Lancaster County, I think there is a Kendig graveyard in Pequea Twp., near Willow Street that is suppose to house the early Kendigs. I don't have the book but maybe someone on the list has it and can tell you what it says. I doubt you'll find a tombstone because someone buried that early may have not had one or it may not have survived. Margie, If you have access to FindAGrave, there are many Kendigs listed for Lancaster county there, some have headstones pictured. There is a Henrich 1708 - 1756 memorial # 53570525, linked to the pages of Hans Jacob memorial# 53578953, and Susanna Wymann memorial # 53579239 as his parents. Susanna burial location is unknown, Hans Jacobs is also unknown, and Henrichs burial location is Twin Elm Road cemetery, but theres no location info for the cemetery/burial locatiion. On Henrichs page there is also a link to a Maria Wolfe, said to be Henrichs wife, also said to be buried at Twin Elm Road. When I went to FindAGrave, I just put in the last name Kendig and set the perameters for US-PA-Lancaster, and it brought up all the Kendigs entered that are known to be buried in Lancaster county. There is at least 3-4 pgs of names there. Might turn out to be helpful. Wed., July 3, 1844 Lancaster Examiner & Herald, Deaths, p. 3: FRAZER.-On Thursday evening last, in this city, at the residence of his only brother, Resh FRAZER, Esq., Lieutenant William FRAZER, of the 3d Reg. of Artillery, U. S. A., after a comparatively short but severe attack of Consumption, in the 29th year of his age. He was the youngest son of the late Judge FRAZER, and was born in Lancaster. He entered West Point as a Cadet, in June,1832, and graduated and received his Diploma in June 1836[?]. In July of the same year, he was commissioned Brev. 2d Lieutenant in the 3d Regiment of the Artillery of the United States. In October of the same year, he joined his regiment in Florida, where he continued in active service until June 1838, having during this period, commanded the company, and performed the duties of a Captain. In July 1838, he was commissioned 1st Lieutenant, and at the period of his decease he was highest on the list for promotion. He was attached for a period of two years and a half, to the company of Light Artillery, now stationed at Fort McHenry, Baltimore, and commanded by Major Ringgold. He was in command of his company at the Battle of Loochahatiche[?], Florida, where General Jessup was wounded--an engagement in which the deceased, according to the reports of several of those concerned in it, distinguished himself by his courage and determination. He again served the last campaign of the Florida war, from the fall of 1841, to the spring of 1842, when he was transferred to Pensacola, and afterwards to Savannah, Georgia. It is remarkable that in all the posts which our youthful soldier filled, he succeeded, in every case, in obtaining the affection of his associates and the confidence of his superiors..........He was the last remaining but one of his family..........His remains were interred in the Family burying ground in Strasburg township, on Sunday morning last, attended by a large concourse of his friends. The matches can be narrowed by searching the body for a particular surname: http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/search?path=PALANCAS
BTW I just searched it.....used the name Albright in the Keyword....and got 19,600 matches. So, there you go. Putting more information in can limit you - if the spelling is wrong, depending on where you put it - which section, etc. You have to be careful. A name could be in there, and if you don't write it in the right place you may not find it, and it could be there. I NEVER use Body/Subject unless I *know* the word I want is specifically in one of those places. See, it's all "what you know." If you don't know the info IS there, you don't know what to search, you have to leave it vague. Hence, 19600 Albrights. Lynn

Hi Alissa, Probably, there won't be a record of that marriage but if this Lancaster City you could check the Lancaster County Historical Society archives to see what they may have. Go to http://lancasterhistory.org and follow the links to the archives and see if you can search for the name of the alderman. The actual data won't be on-line but at least you'll know they have some records. I think records of Alderman and Justices of the Peace are rare but they have some. Also, I don't think you'll find anything more from the Justice of the Peace than what appeared in the newspaper. But I have a marriage in 1844 that was performed by an alderman. I know there are no marriage licenses from that date, but would there be some sort of record somewhere? I know churches might have it in their registers but what was needed to be married by an alderman? Thanks. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to PALANCAS-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

You need to have a deed book & page number like A3 p. 156, which is why I sent you to the Grantor indexes. [The courthouse does have all the index books digitized, but they have not allowed access to them from outside of their computers. So for now, we must use what's available. Often you can find a previous deed number in the one you are looking at, so you can sometimes look up an earlier deed that way.] http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~paslchs/IndexImages.html http://www.lancasterdeeds.com/lanco_rod/cwp/view.asp?a=662&Q=582879&lanco_rodNav=| 1. Open the E-Film Reader. 2. At the top right of the page you will see a box "Land Records". Click on the little box to the right. This will give you a drop-down menu with all the deed books. The oldest ones are letter names & are found at the top & bottom of the list choose one & hit enter or return. 3.On the left "Image Layout" choose 1x1 for easier viewing. 4. Above the image, to the right, enter the page number you want. THIS RARELY TAKES YOU TO THE PAGE YOU NEED. Figure out the difference between the page that shows up and the one you need and add or subtract accordingly. In this case I wanted page 156, but 149 showed up. I add 7 to 156, which is 163 & enter that. This is a great resource! Most PA courthouse, if they have digitized their records, make you pay a third party to get copies of the documents and do not allow free access. Occasionally the website is down & if you leave it for too long, you need to re-open the E-Film Reader.
