I discovered a new URL that is pretty cool the other day. It has more than just Lancaster County on it and the Lancaster County paper listed is available at other sites. But I did want to share it anyway. The search capabilities seem easier than some of the old newspaper sites. http://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/newspapers/ On Nov 3, 2011, at 12:22 PM, Vickie Calzada wrote: > Graham, > Could you please email me the list of URLs? > > Many Thanks! > Vick > > On Fri, Oct 21, 2011 at 9:09 AM, <glouer2@aol.com> wrote: > >> Here is my collection of PA URLs for statewide plus Chester, >> Lancaster >> and Philadelphia Counties. >> >> If anyone can add to this, especially Lancaster Co, I would be very >> grateful. >> >> Many have shared these with me and it's time to give back. >> >> Graham Louer >> Plano TX >> Married 60 years this November >> >> >> >> >> ------------------------------- >> To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to >> PALANCAS-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the >> quotes in the subject and the body of the message >> > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to PALANCAS-request@rootsweb.com > with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and > the body of the message

Thanks, Vicki, I have seen all tax records for Lancaster. Those are two separate people; George Mentzer became George Menner's father-in-law in 1764 according to Rev. Waldschmidt's records. What I was hoping to find was any other religious records of George Menner besides Rev. Waldschmidt's records that show George as a congregant somewhere and possibly his children's baptismal records for approximate dates of birth. This might be a good time to say who I am looking for in Lancaster Co. I'm looking for any information, particularly marriage or baptism records, involving a William Dean/Dane who was born near Philadelphia, PA about 1758. According to family tradition, William married Sarah McDonald sometime about 1785. I would love to find a record of that marriage. They had children beginning with George Dean, born 1786 in Pennsylvania (don't know where in PA). I think the Caleb Dean/Dane who shows in records of Earl and Cocalico Townships, Lancaster Co., PA from 1790 until his death in 1819 was my William's brother. Caleb married Maria Marlin Feb 16, 1785 according to the records of Rev. John Waldschmidt, minister of the German Reformed church in southeastern Pennsylvania (source: Pennsylvania Archives). According to that record, Caleb's father was Nehemiah/Nehimiah Dean/Dane. I have found records of Nehemiah in York County, PA until he sold his land in Warrington Township in August 1784. I have tried hard, but can't find him in the 1790 census when he would have been 61 years of age. Since his son was in Lancaster County in 1790, I think there is a possibility that Nehemiah was there then too. Again, what I desperately need is a record which establishes the relationship between my William Dean/Dane and Nehemiah Dean/Dane. It is quite possible that such a record exists in a marriage or baptism record in Lancaster Co., PA sometime about 1780-1820. Thank you for your attention. I will appreciate any lookups anyone can do. Larry Dean Vancouver, WA, USA http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~ladeanxx/index.html

Hi Doris, The first settlers in Lampeter settled about 1709, they were the first Mennonite settlers in that area. Your ancestor may be on of them. The 1709 settlers were the first settlers in what would become Lancaster County.
