I don't have much information other then the following: Around 1919-1920 a Grace Minnich was employed at the Washington Hotel in Mt. Joy, PA. She was under the age of 16.     2. I have found that it's worth noting both dates. Some census takers followed the rules as they were written, and some didn't. It may be that the people they were talking to didn't understand what was asked too...who knows. But researchers need to remember both scenarios are possibilities: age according to the actual census date, and age on the date the census taker came. It's like today. Not everybody follows the rules--and maybe it didn't get explained to them correctly so that they understood what was wanted. I'm just glad we've got the records that we do. Karen

Then I have a marriage record for what I believe are his parents, John Crooks and Elizabeth McDonnel, of the Manors, married Sept. 26, 1786, in First Reformed Congregation in Lancaster City.     2. Problem with census date, is that one never knows whether the enumerator was following instructions or not. The ages written down may have been from "census day" as they were supposed to have been, which changed from year to year, or the date the enumerator called. Karen
