I show one sister of Barbara Witmer, Anna 'Nancy' Witmer b. July 16, 1789 d. Dec. 10, 1869 married, in 1809, to Christian Shaub (1783-1837) and then brother, Jacob Witmer (Sept. 7, 1791 d. June 21, 1864) married Sarah Lafever in 1817. Barbara, Anna and Jacob are children of John Witmer (1754-1828) and Esther Bowman (1769-1828). Doesn't look like the same family....sorry. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bobbie Welty" <blwelty@comcast.net> To: <PALANCAS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, February 17, 2006 2:39 PM Subject: Re: [PALANCAS] BARGE researcher > Would you have any idea about sisters of Barbara Witmer? That's it. On my way back from the store one of the street signs had the english translation. Michelle, did you need anything from our area? Nancy
Richard, Bingo! You get the Prize, that is, IF there is one. Ernest
I am a BARGE researcher and have compiled quite a bit of info about Jacob BARGE (1794-1863) and wife Barbara WITMER (1793-1871) and the lines that come down from them. BUT, I have a question about their children. I believe that Jacob and Barbara MUST have had more than the couple children attributed to them :Witmer John BARGE (1819-1889) and Mary Ann (BARGE) ROHRER (1829-1909). With the span of 10 years between children, it sure seems likely. Does anyone have any info to share? Would anyone have the info from the will of George BARGE from 1844? cindy
Based upon German, I presume Schoeneck means beautiful corner or beautiful place. Schoen/Schön -- beautiful Eck/Ecke -- corner Richard R. Schoeneck is about 1.5 miles south of my house. Ernest was very accurate in describing location, I'll ask around to some of the locals and see if I can find a name origin. Nancy (a transplant from N. CA)
Thank you so much for your response. I have the will for John Roland who died in 1830 . Actually his will was dated 1823 and the partition record is 1830. However, it says he had no descendants and his heirs were siblings in Lancaster co PA. And your list may solve some problems if the children of his father came to Fairfield co OH. I do hope the researcher contacts me. I am reasonably sure this Henry who had John and Josina may also have had a son Henry. At least John and Henry served in the Civil War. It may have been the father but he had a large family. Thanks again. Margaret Calvin >I have a John Roland b. ca1762 in Lanc. Co. Pa., d. 1830 in Fairfield Co.
