    1. KREIDER Family Photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" two old photographs belonging to the KREIDER Family of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The first is a photograph of Harry KREIDER and his wife. The photograph was taken at the Aller's Gallery in Lancaster, probably sometime in the 1880's with the couple appearing to be in their 20's or 30's. The second is a photograph of Elva KREIDER and was taken at the Lease Studio in Lancaster. I think the second photograph was probably taken in the 1890's with Elva looking to be about 1 year old at the time. Based on limited research, I believe that this is likely a photograph of Harry KREIDER son of Isaac & Mary KREIDER who were living with their family in Leacock, PA during the 1880 census with records providing the following information: Isaac KREIDER, age 43, born PA, a Farmer, parent born PA Mary KREIDER, wife, age 40, born PA, Keeping House, parents born PA Anna Mary KREIDER, dau, age 18, born PA, at Home Harry KREIDER, son, age 13, born PA, at Home Susie E. KREIDER, dau, age 10, born PA, at Home Emanuel J. KREIDER, son, age 5, born PA Elizabeth KREIDER, dau, age 3, born PA Charles WEAVER, other, age 18, born PA, a Laborer, parents born PA In the 1910 census of Bart, PA I find the Harry KREIDER Family as follows: Harry KREIDER, age 44, married 19 years, born PA, parents born PA, a Farmer Sallie KREIDER, wife, age 30, married 19 years, 6 children/3 living, born PA, parents born PA/Germany Elva M. KREIDER, dau, age 17, born PA Frank M. KREIDER, son, age 14, born PA Blanche M. KREIDER, dau, age 9, born PA In addition to these two photographs I've also recovered photographs belonging to the BURKHOLDER, WEAVER, MCCLEARY, ECKMAN, DECKER, and STOUTZENBERGER Families. I've no idea how they all may be connected, though I know that the handwritten notes on all were made by the same hand so it is certain that they belonged together at some point in the past. I'm hoping to locate someone from this family so that these wonderful old photographs can be returned to their care. If you are a member of this family, or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

    2. Charles Brown
    3. Frederick WAGNER was born about 1852 and died in Columbia in 1898. He worked as a machinist for the railroad and was killed in an accident in the Columbia roundhouse. He married Elizabeth WEAVER also from the Columbia area. She died in 1930. Can anyone direct me to their parents or other relatives?

    3. According to Phillip E. Bedient, author of a 1988 article in the PA Mennonite Heritage, his extensive research had identified at least 11 distinct Witmer families in the Lancaster area. Six of those families resided in Manor Twp. To quote him, "The Witmer families of central PA present a difficult challenge to the genealogist. A number of Witmer families arrived from Europe during the eighteenth century and took up land. Most of these Witmers were German or Swiss and not all of them could read or write. There were Mennonites, German Reformed, Lutheran, and members of the Church of the Brethren among their numbers." This particular article covered the descendants of John (d. ca. 1728) and Catherine Witmer of Manor Twp - no relationship to the Peter Witmer family. 3. There was a Catharine Witmer b. 1778-1792, prob. Manor or Donegal Twp. Her father was John Witmer (b. 1758, d. bef 1792). John Witmer was son of Peter Witmer and Catharine Engel of Manor Twp. Keep in mind, however, that there were a number of different Witmer families all living in the same area. And the name "Catharine" was quite common. Source: Lanc Co. 3. Yes, there are two Graybill lines. Benjamin Hummer Ritter and Eliz. Witmer Hershey's youngest son was Jacob Ritter, b. 8-19-1855. Jacob married Barbara W. Hess. I know a Rufus Graybill, b 2/1/1898 was a grandchild they helped raise. I think Rufus's mother was Jacob and Barbara's oldest daughter, Lizzie. I don't know about the father. Jacob and Barbara's 3rd child, Benjamin Franklin Ritter, b 1883, married Lillie Brubaker, born 1889. They had one child Barbara who married Lloyd Graybill. I hope this helps. Do you have any information on Catherine Witmer's parents? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Stephennie Rosendorf" <Stephennie@cfl.rr.com> To: <PALANCAS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, February 17, 2006 5:26 PM Subject: Re: [PALANCAS] Re: Catherine Witmer > Do you by chance have graybills in witmer line? 2. Bobbi, who is your Catherine Witmer married to?

    02/17/2006 09:53:51
    1. Brickerville Academy
    2. PHILIP HOUSTON
    3. A cousin of my mother's wrote brief highlights of his brothers life. One of the pieces of information is that his father andall of his brothers (one of which was my grandfather) attended the Brickerville Academy in Lancaster County. I can only assume this would be close to Brickerville but I can find no information. Does anyone have any idea where it may have been or what other name it may have gone by? Nancy Houston
