    2. This one is a long shot folks, but hoping someone can help me. I am researching the McKinney family. Emma E. McKinney ca 1859, married an unknown, and had a daughter Anna, surname unknown. My Grandfather told me she married a Cramer, but that is all he could remember. At the time, the McKinney family also lived in Martic Twp., so I feel strongly this is the same Cramer family that is being discussed. Does anyone have a Cramer, m. to an Anna from this time frame. Told you it was a long shot, lol. Hoping someone has an answer. Yvonne

    3. As long as we are talking about the Cramer Family, will toss in mine. Henry Cramer was born about 1818 in Lebanon. He died as a result of the civil war. At that time they were in Huntingdon Co. His wife Lydia Cramer and the kids came to Lancaster. Always wondered why. Lydia's family was from Franklin Co. Have never been able to find any family for either of them in Lancaster. Lydia McClellan Cramer was born 12 Dec 1825 and married Henry Cramer 25 Jan 1844 in Huntingdon. Their children that came to Lancaster were Juniata Cramer born 8 Nov 1853 married Charles Forrest Sarah Cramer born 3 Oct 1856 married Stephen Skeen Delray Cramer born 19 Oct 1858 married Edward Retallack (my line) William Cramer born 19 May 1864 died 16 Apr 1875. He might have attended the Soldiers Orphans School in Columbia. Have never found a record of his death--obit or cemetery Janet Welty > > > > From: "William G. 3. NARA has already cut out their evening and weekend hours, and today they told me it would be permanent until further notice. There have been budget cuts, and then the flooding we had in D.C. about 5 weeks ago caused extensive damage. NARA in D.C. was completely off-limits for over 3 weeks. The basement was under water, including the nice new cafeteria that they had recently added. They are having to tear things out and completely redo it. The building is open now, but they are still running off of generators, and there is only limited power available. You are not allowed to plug in laptops, and the second floor research room is not being powered at all. Researchers are being kept in a smaller room on the first floor to view their files, but there are only two copiers running, and you are timed at 5 minutes of copying and then you have to go to the end of the line and wait again. The "regulars" are scrambling to keep up with their workload. There is limited seating for researchers in the smaller room, and those without a seat have to wait outside the room on a waiting list and not be allowed in until another researcher exits. Appointments for the bulk copier fill up the day before. It isn't pretty. If you are planning a trip to NARA soon, do yourself a favor and postpone it. Peggy Reeves

I'd seen the Lancaster County will abstracts--in fact I have a copy of the book. There was an Ulrich LEIB in Lancaster County and the will abstract for him mentioned his sons and my Henry was not listed among them in the abstract....not at ALL. Then I sent for Ulrich's will and imagine my surprise when Henry was listed in the will as being Ulrich's oldest son but not listed among the beneficiaries of Ulrich's wll (and not picked up in the abstract) because (the will stated) he had already been given land in York County by Ulrich when he married and this was HIS share of the inheritance. 1. National Archives to cut hours
    2. Brian Bowers
    3. Hi, The National Archives is planning to cut the hours it is open for research. No weekends. No nights. That means you have to take some vacation (or wait until retirement) if you ever plan to do research at the facilities in the Washington area. If you want to complain, go to the links before. Brian Subject: NARA rule to change research/exhibit hours in DC area; public comment request ** High Priority ** The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) published today, July 25, 2006, in the Federal Register an interim final rule requesting public comment on a change in the hours for conducting research at the National Archives Building (DC) and National Archives at College Park (MD) and for visiting the Rotunda and National Archives Experience on the Constitution Ave side of the National Archives Building. § This rule and the changed hours will go into effect October 2, 2006. § Comments on this document must be received by September 8, 2006. See the rule at the link below or at www.regulations.gov for information on the ways to submit comments. § A public meeting relating to the rule will be held at the Jefferson Room in the National Archives Building at 1 pm on August 3. Please enter through the Special Events entrance on the Constitution Avenue side of the building (between 7th St. and 9th St. NW). Reservations are not required but space may be limited. § A link to the rule is at: http://a257.g.akamaitech.net/7/257/2422/01jan20061800/edocket.access.gpo.gov/2006/pdf/E6-11763.pdf BACKGROUND INFORMATION ON THE RULE: NARA is revising its regulations with respect to research room and museum hours at our facilities in the Washington, DC, area. The operating costs for these facilities have been increasing every year, particularly for staffing, security services and utilities. In these times of fiscal restraint, NARA has determined reluctantly that it is necessary to curtail service during time frames when only a small percentage of our users are present to ensure that we are able to provide quality services to customers during the times of greatest public use while we are also conducting other mission-critical duties. Additional information about this rulemaking is available in the text of the document at the URL above.

    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Fannie CRAMER which was taken on the occasion of her graduation from the Millersville State Normal School in Pennsylvania. The photograph is dated 1909 and notes that Fannie is 21 years old at the time the photograph was taken. Based on limited research I believe that Fannie was likely the daughter of James K. & Mathersa or Methesa CRAMER. The CRAMER Family was living in South Martic, PA during the 1900 census as follows: James K. CRAMER, age 53, born Jan 1847, married 26 years, born PA, parents born PA, a Farmer Mathersa CRAMER, wife, age 51, born Nov 1848, married 26 years, 12 children/11 living, born PA, parents born PA Edward CRAMER, son, age 24, born Sept 1875, born PA, a Farm Laborer William CRAMER, son, age 22, born Feb 1878, born PA, a House Carpenter Enos CRAMER, son, age 21, born Apr 1879, born PA, a Stone Mason Oscar CRAMER, son, age 19, born Dec 1880, born PA, a Farm Laborer Omie CRAMER, dau, age 17, born Nov 1882, born PA, at School Albert CRAMER, son, age 15, born Dec 1884, born PA, a Farm Laborer Lottie CRAMER, dau, age 13, born Oct 1886, born PA, at School Fannie CRAMER, dau, age 11, born Oct 1888, born PA, at School Rollie CRAMER, dau, age 9, born Mar 1891, born PA, at School The CRAMER Family was living in Drumore, PA during the 1910 census as follows: James K. 2. You can go to the nearest LDS Family History center and for about $5.25 order the microfilm with those wills on it. (Depending on the breakdown of the filming, it may be necessary to get two films.) Sometimes it's better to just look at the original documents rather than abstracts as many abstracts only list names, and not the relationships that may be given in the will. Karen

    1. Mitchell Family from Lancaster to Westmoreland & Allegheny Co.
    2. Ellen
    3. Hello All, I'm new to this particular list. If there is anyone on here who is working on the Mitchell Family that most likely started in this area & ultimately moved on to Westmoreland County & Allegheny County, PA & then to Ohio & parts west, I would appreciate hearing from you. I am particularly interested in one Matthew Mitchell who was in the Revolutionary War from Westmoreland County, PA & then had land grants in what became Allegheny County, PA. He later moved on to Muskingham County, OH, where he died. His son Matthew also moved to Ohio & died in Logan County. It is my belief that his older brother was Alexander, also in Westmoreland County & others named William, Ebenezer & I believe John. This Matthew married the daughter of Matthew Ritchey of the York & Adams County area by Rev. John Cuthbertson. The goal is to find out if Matthew was born here or came with his parents or brothers to this country & the originating country. I am hoping that wills, deeds or church records might be of help. These people may have come from Scotland or England between 1729 & 1749. Any & all clues will be appreciated. Thank You, Ellen Visit my web site at: http://www.familytreetracer.com <http://www.familytreetracer.com/>
