I just want to let everyone know that my sister and I were blessed this past year, we were finally able to get my fathers records opened at the St. Joseph Foundling Home after 20 years of research. My father died 1986 and since that time we have been trying to find out who his family was since he was adopted May 23 1920. I always assumed his parents were not married since he was put up for adoption July 1920, his mother Alice Barrett from Jerymn Pa was 27 and father Thomas Carminita/Cominita age 34 from Palermo Italy. It was a gold mine, when we found out from the Lawyer we hired and discovered his parents were married and they had three children and that my Grandfather died in NYC Feb 1920 before my father was born. My Grandmother went back to Pa where she was from and went to the St. Joseph's Foundling Home with her three children. Rose 5, John 3 and Helen 1. John dies in March 4 days coming to the home and Helen 6 weeks later. My father is born in May 1920 (sickly and not expected to live). I feel I need to tell the story because someone out there knows the story and the family my Father belongs to. Since we have not been able to find his mother and sister since they left in JUly 1920 with my Dad to live with a cousin in Hyde Park Pa. I just want to say please don't assume anything and please don't give up. 5 minute before the miracle.........and most important don't believe the people at the Foundling Home they had lied to me saying for years their was nothing in my Dads file that could help me in my research. Hiring a Lawyer was the best thing we could of done. Sandy from New York
