===================== From: BWT3783@aol.com Hello Lynn, Just "listening" in to your message. The Jackson Street Church has been standing for a long time! I believe the ground was purchased about the time you are speaking of, or maybe prior. My family attended the church. The side of the property that faces Hyde Park Avenue has no building on it. It is just a grassy park-like lot. Perhaps the church was there when your family's grocery store stood at the corner? My grandfather also owned a grocery store about 1912-1922, on Washburn Street. Maybe they were competitors! Good luck and happy hunting. The Jackson St. Baptist Church is now on this site. I don't know if my g-grandparents owned the property or rented. Since I live in Tennessee and can't get to the property records, is there anyone or group who can check on the property records to see who the church bought the property from. I know the store was there in 1896 and I think they were there in 1900. When my g-grandmother passed away in 1914, the church was there as they held a funeral service for her at the church. I need to know who owned the property from 1896 - to whenever the church purchased the property. Several years ago I wrote to the church but never received a reply. Depending on the results, I will know whether or not to check for a will for my g-grandfather and/or g-grandmother. I do remember my grandmother mentioning some family problems and the deposition of the estate could have been the basis. Any help received is appreciated.
